6. Maintenance
Sealing strips and Vermiculite panels are wearing parts which need to be replaced from
time to time – depending on how much you use your stove. In some cases, you may
need to replace them every year, while in others, replacement every second or third
year will su ce. As a rule of thumb, the sealing strip needs to be replaced when it has
become attened and the door no longer ts tightly against the front of the stove. You
can purchase sets of sealing strip – with adhesive – from your local dealer.
The Vermiculite panels must be replaced when they have worn thin, or when cracks – if
any – become so wide that you can actually see steel through them. If the panels are
not replaced at such time, they will lose their capacity to insulate and re ect heat.
We recommend that you use original spare parts.
Movable and mechanical parts (closing mechanisms, hinges etc) should be greased
once a year with a heat-resistant lubricant.
You should have your stove checked regularly by a quali ed professional to ensure the
optimal function of the stove at all times. Do not make any unauthorised changes to
the design of the stove. Not only is this illegal, but it will also invalidate the stove guar-
antee and test results.
Replacing the sealing strip on the door
1. Remove the sealing strip from the inside edge of the door and clean the
sealing track (there is no need to remove the door from the stove).
2. Apply a layer of re-resistant adhesive to the track where the old seal
ing strip was a xed.
3. Press new sealing strip into the track.
4. Close the door and let the adhesive set for approx. 1 day before opening
the door again. If the adhesive has not hardened su ciently before the door
is opened again, the sealing strip may fall out.
Interior cleaning
It must always be possible to access the chimney for sweeping/cleaning.
The ashes must frequently be removed from the combustion chamber. BE CAREFUL not
to empty hot ashes directly into the waste bag - there may be embers even 24 hours
after the re has gone out.
Before chimney sweeping, the ba e plates should be removed. When the plates are
removed, loose soot may fall down into the combustion chamber. Shut o the air sup-
ply and the door, to prevent soot and ashes from coming out.
