2. Before using the device, remove all packaging materials which are used to protect
the device during transport or for advertising.
3. Familiarise yourself with all of the features and functions of the device.

Preparing Coating Materials

CAUTION!
• The device is suitable for use with a large number of coating materials (paints, var-
nishes, wood preservatives, etc.). Do not use the device with fl ammable or danger-
ous (e.g. caustic) substances. Only use products with a fl ash point of over 21°C.
Always follow the instructions provided by the paint manufacturer.
• If there are any lumps or other particles in the coating material, these need to be
fi ltered out before the paint is poured into the paint container of the paint spray gun.
• Always check the viscosity of your coating material fi rst before you pour it into the
paint container and thin it down if necessary.
• Note the instructions of the coating material manufacturer when it comes to thinning
down your coating material. Paints and varnishes containing solvents are generally
thinned down with an appropriate solvent; water-based paints and varnishes can be
thinned down with water.
• Approved coating materials are:
– paints and varnishes containing solvents,
– latex paint,
– water-dilutable varnishes,
– wood preservatives,
– acrylic lacquer paints,
– glazes,
– impregnating agents, as well as oils and other aqueous liquids.
• Unsuitable coating materials are:
– emulsion paints and latex paints
– materials containing heavily abrasive constituents
– paint strippers and alkaline solutions
– acid paints.
1. Stir through the coating material and ensure that it does not contain any lumps or
other particles.
2. Most commercially available coating materials are mixed for application with a
brush or a roller and they need to be thinned down for use with a paint spray
gun. Also note the manufacturer's instructions on this.
