  • Page 8 Lock the monitor arm to prevent the monitor from moving to the left or right. Note: The monitor arm must be in center position before the pin engages. Grip the eMag 240 HD by the rear camera support to lift and move it to a stable surface such as a ta- ble, desk or worktop.

  • Page 11 Connect the power cable: from the middle power connector on the back of the eMag 240 HD to a wall outlet. Press the white master power switch near the LED reading light on the right side of the eMag 240 HD. Press the green power switch on the right side of the control panel. Note: If the screen remains blank, check that the monitor is turned on.

  • Page 13 Place the document that you want to magnify onto the center of the reading table. Move the document back so that it touches the rear of the reading table. To read the text on a rounded object such as a pill bottle, place it in the indentation in the rear of the reading table.
  • Page 14 Unlock the reading table to move a document so that its text moves back and forth across the screen to make reading easier. locked released Turn the blue color select dial to choose a color combination that best suits your vision needs. The de- fault color settings are: full color, black on white, white on black, yellow on blue and yellow on black.

  • Page 16 Advanced Video Controls Focus lock and position locator beam By default, the camera automatically focuses on the closest object in view. However, if you want it to focus on a specific object such as the document on the reading table, you can turn on the focus lock feature. This pre- vents the camera from accidentally focusing on your hand or any other item that moves in front of the camera.
  • Page 17 Turning LED Reading Lights On or Off Note: The eMag 240 HD has two reading lights designed to illuminate documents and other items you place on the reading table. This lighting is diffused to reduce glare and reflections. However, some items, such as photographs or glossy magazine pages, may be too shiny or reflective to view easily. When viewing such items, you can turn off the reading lights if you like.
  • Page 18 Reading Lines and Reading Masks Reading lines display as two horizontal or vertical lines on the screen. Reading masks block part of the screen to show only a horizontal or vertical slice of the screen. Use these items to help you keep your place while reading text.

  • Page 20 Opening Configuration Mode and Editing Settings Turn the left purple adjustment wheel towards the right to move both lines and masks up and down or  left and right on the screen.
  • Page 21 Adjusting Width between Lines or Masks For horizontal lines or masks: Turn the right purple width wheel to the left or right to move the top line or mask up or down.  This increases or decreases the distance between horizontal lines or masks. For vertical lines or masks: Turn the right purple width wheel to the left or right.
  • Page 22 Using the eMag 240 HD Reading Line The reading line is a single horizontal line that is shown on the screen to help you keep your place while read- ing a document. When using the reading table, it helps you to scroll your document across the screen and read it systematically.
  • Page 23 Changing the Basic Configuration of the eMag 240 HD Settings T he eMag 240 HD can be configured for up to 12 color combinations – saved as positions 1 through 12.  Color combinations are used to show text for best readability, for example, yellow text against a blue background.
  • Page 24 The letter T, which stands for Text Enhancement, appears in the lower left corner of the screen. Posi- tion 1 is always shown first. A hollow T is displayed for positions 1 through 3. This means that color settings cannot be changed; however, other settings for these positions can be edited. A solid T is displayed for positions that can be edited.

  • Page 26 Customizing Magnification Settings The eMag 240 HD can display 16 levels of magnification. To increase magnification, turn the black magnifica- tion dial clockwise. To decrease magnification, turn it counterclockwise. To allow you to get the most out of your eMag 240 HD, there are three magnification ranges from which you can choose the best magnification power for you.
  • Page 27 Selecting a Magnification Range Press and hold the red focus lock button for approximately 10 seconds until the letter T appears in the lower left corner of the screen. Continue to press the red focus lock button until this icon is displayed on the screen. Press the button in the center of the black magnification dial to select one of the three magnification ranges.

If not, press and hold the red focus lock button for approximately 10 seconds to open the eMag 240 HD settings.   • Page 43 Branchez le câble réseau : de la prise au milieu du dos de l'eMag 240 HD dans une prise de courant. Appuyez sur l'interrupteur général blanc se trouvant à proximité de l'éclairage DEL, sur la droite de l'eMag 240 HD. Appuyez sur l'interrupteur vert situé à droite sur le pavé de commande. Pour lire un texte sur un objet rond, déposez-le dans la cavité au dos du plateau. Cela empêchera les objets ronds de rouler. Tournez le bouton noir du grossissement pour régler le grossissement.

  • Page 48 Fonctions étendues Verrouillage de la mise au point et rayon de positionnement Par défaut, la caméra effectue la mise au point sur l’objet le plus proche dans le champ de vision. Si, cepen- dant, vous souhaitez effectuer la mise au point sur un objet en particulier, par exemple le document sur le plateau, vous pouvez désactiver la mise au point automatique.
  • Page 49 Allumage et extinction de l’éclairage DEL Note : L'eMag 240 HD dispose de deux lampes pour éclairer les documents et autres objets posés sur le plateau. Cette lumière diffuse réduit l'éblouissement et les reflets. Certains objets, comme par exemple des photos ou des pages de magazine en papier glacé peuvent briller ou réfléchir la lumière, réduisant le confort de la lecture.
  • Page 50 Lignes et masques de lecture Les lignes de lecture s'affichent sur l'écran sous forme de deux lignes horizontales ou verticales. Les masques de lectures recouvrent une partie de l'écran de façon à ne montrer qu'une découpe horizontale ou verticale de l'écran. Cette fonction assiste l'orientation pendant la lecture de texte. Vous pouvez déplacer les lignes et les masques et changer leur position sur l'écran ou déplacer une ligne ou un masque pour régler leur écart.

Ceci réduit ou agrandit la distance entre les lignes ou masques horizontaux.
  • Page 54 Utilisation de la ligne de lecture de l'eMag 240 HD La ligne de lecture est une ligne individuelle verticale affichée à l'écran et servant d'orientation pendant la lecture d'un document. Combinée au déplacement du plateau, elle permet de lire le document systémati- quement. La ligne de lecture s'utilise de la façon suivante : Appuyez sur la touche au centre du bouton bleu de réglage des modes de couleur pour placer une ligne horizontale sur l'écran.

  • Page 75 Sluit de stroomkabel aan: van de middelste aansluiting aan de achterkant van de eMag 240 HD naar een stopcontact. Druk op de witte hoofdschakelaar die zich in de buurt van de led-lamp, aan de rechterkant van de eMag 240 HD bevindt. Druk op de groene aan-uitknop, die zich rechts op het bedieningspaneel bevindt. Om de tekst op een rond voorwerp te ontcijferen legt u deze in de inkeping aan de achterkant van de leestafel. Zo blijven ronde voorwerpen op hun plaats. Draai de zwarte zoomknop om de zoomfactor in te stellen.

Vergrendeld Ontgrendeld Draai de blauwe kleurmodusknop om de kleurencombinatie te kiezen, die het beste bij uw gezichtsver- mogen past. De standaard instelde kleurinstellingen zijn: full colour, zwart op wit, wit op zwart, geel op blauw en geel op zwart.

  • Page 80 Geavanceerde functies Focusvergrendeling en positioneerstraal De camera stelt standaard het dichtstbijzijnde voorwerp in het gezichtsveld scherp. Wanneer u echter een bepaald voorwerp wilt scherpstellen, zoals een object op de leestafel, kunt u de focusvergrendeling inscha- kelen. Daarmee voorkomt u dat de camera op uw hand of iets anders, dat toevallig voor de camera beweegt, focust.
  • Page 81 Led-lamp in- of uitschakelen Aanwijzing: De eMag 240 HD beschikt over twee lampen, die de objecten en andere voorwerpen, die u op de leestafel plaats verlichten. Het strooilicht reduceert de verblinding en reflecties. Enkele voor- werpen zoals foto's of tijdschriften op hoogglanspapier kunnen sterk glansen of reflecteren en zijn daarom moeilijk te bekijken.
  • Page 82 Leeslijnen en leesmaskers De leeslijnen verschijnen als twee horizontale of verticale lijnen op het beeldscherm. Leesmaskers dekken een deel van het beeldscherm af zodat slechts een horizontaal of verticaal deel van het beeldscherm wordt weer- gegeven. Deze functie helpt bij de oriëntatie tijdens het lezen van de tekst. U kunt lijnen of maskers verschui- ven en de positie ervan op het beeldscherm veranderen.

Hierdoor wordt de afstand tussen horizontale lijnen of mas- kers kleiner of groter.
  • Page 86 De eMag 240 HD-leeslijn gebruiken De leeslijn is een aparte horizontale lijn op het beeldscherm, die u oriëntatie biedt bij het lezen van een object. Wanneer u de leestafel gebruikt voor het lezen van een document helpt de lijn u om systematisch te lezen. De leeslijn wordt als volgt gebruikt: Druk op de knop in het midden van de blauwe kleurmodusknop, om een horizontale lijn over het beeld- scherm te plaatsen.
  • Page 87 De basisconfiguratie van de eMag 240 HD veranderen Instellingen D e eMag 240 HD kan met maximaal twaalf kleurencombinaties worden geconfigureerd, die worden  opgeslagen op de positie 1 tot 12. Bepaalde kleurencombinaties worden gebruikt voor een optimale leesbaarheid van de tekst, bijvoorbeeld gele letters op een blauwe achtergrond.
  • Page 88 De letter T staat voor tekstweergave en verschijnt in de hoek linksonder op het beeldscherm. Positie 1 verschijnt altijd als eerste. Een T als contour wordt weergegeven bij de posities 1 tot 3. Dat betekent dat de kleurinstellingen niet kunnen worden gewijzigd. Andere instellingen kunnen wel worden gewij- zigd.

  • Page 90 Zoominstellingen aanpassen De eMag 240 HD kan 16 zoomfactoren weergeven. Om de zoomfactor te verhogen draait u de zwarte zoom- knop met de klok mee. Om de zoomfactor te verlagen draai u de knop tegen de klok in. Om de eMag 240 HD optimaal te kunnen gebruiken, zijn er drie zoombereiken beschikbaar waaruit u het be- reik kunt kiezen dat het beste bij u past.
  • Page 91 Een zoombereik kiezen Houd de rode focusvergrendelknop ongeveer tien seconden ingedrukt tot er een T in de hoek linksonder op het beeldscherm verschijnt. Druk nog enkele keren op de rode focusvergrendelknop tot het volgende pictogram op het beeldscherm verschijnt: Druk op de knop in het midden van de zwarte zoomknop om één van de drie zoombereiken te kiezen. Een overzicht van de zoombereiken vindt u hieronder in deze beschrijving.

Daarna druk u nog een keer op de rode focusvergrendelknop, tot het loeppictogram op het beeldscherm verschijnt.
