MAINTENANCE OF THE AIR FILTER
A dirty air filter will limit the air flow to the carburettor. To avoid a carburettor failure, do regular maintenance checks
of the air filter. Carry out more frequent maintenance when using the pump in extremely dusty areas.
1.
Remove the thread, remove the air filter cover and remove the foam.
2.
Wash the element with a household detergent solution and hot water, then rinse it thoroughly, or wash it
with a non-flammable solvent. Allow the element to dry completely.
3.
Moisten the element in clean engine oil and remove excess oil. The engine will smoke during the first starts
if you have left too much oil in the element.
4.
Reinstall the air filter element and cover.
ATTENTION:Never use gasoline or solvents with a low ignition point to clean the air filter element.
It can cause fire or an explosion.
ATTENTION: Never run the engine without the air filter installed. If dust or dirt gets into the engine,
it will cause a rapid wear of the engine by the polluting elements.
SPARK PLUG MAINTENANCE
To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be properly opened and free of dirt. Recommended spark
plugs: F7TC F7RTC.
ATTENTION: If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot. Be careful not to touch
the muffler.
Disassembly of the spark plug:
1.
Remove the spark plug cover.
2.
Clean any dirt around the spark plug base.
3.
Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
Spark plug control operations:
1.
Visually inspect the spark plug. Dispose of the spark plug if the ceramic is cracked or broken. Clean the spark
plug with a wire brush if it is going to be reused.
2.
Measure the spark plug gap with a spark plug gap gauge. Correct the gap, if necessary, by carefully bending
the side electrode.
3.
The spark plug gap should be: (0.70-0.80mm)
Spark plug assembly:
1.
Check that the spark plug washer is in good condition, and screw the spark plug by hand to avoid damaging
the threads.
2.
After installing the spark plug, tighten with a spark plug wrench until it is securely fixed.
ATTENTION: The spark plug must be firmly tightened. If the spark plug is not properly tightened it
may heat up excessively and may damage the engine. Never use spark plugs that have an inadequate
thermal range. Use only the recommended spark plugs or their equivalent.
