1 | Status LED
This LED indicates the status of the digital connection.
LED on: A digital signal is present at one of the digital inputs.
LED off: No digital signal is present at any of the digital inputs, the Linear D will
activate the analogue input.
2 | Digital RCA Input
Tethered input to connect a digital source. This input has priority II: as soon as
a carrier signal is recognised, the converter will put it through to the amplifier
when no signal is present at the optical input. There will be no verification if
audio content is actually transferred.
3 | Optical Input (TOSLINK)
Optical input to connect a digital source. The device connected here is auto-
matically prioritised (priority I). Which means that as soon as a carrier signal is

recognised, the converter will put this signal through to the amplifier. There will
be no verification if audio content is actually transferred.
Note
The Linear D can process only two-channel LPCM digital audio
signals (e. g. stereo PCM). A Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS signal cannot
be decoded as it will not be recognised. If you want to link a Blu-ray
player or a similar surround-capable device via digital connection,
please make sure to set this source unit to two-channel PCM.
4 – 5 | Line input (stereo)
The RCA sockets of the line-level input are used to connect your analogue signal
source. This may be e. g. a tuner, a media player or the output of a phono
preamp. The socket with the red ring stands for the right line input, the socket
with the black ring for the left line input.
6 – 7 | Pre-out (stereo)
The RCA sockets of the pre-out can be used to connect all devices with a line
input, for instance a power amplifier, active loudspeaker or receiver. The socket
with the red ring stands for the right pre-out, the socket with the black ring for
the left pre-out.
8 | Mains switch
Use the mains switch to turn the Linear D on and off.
9 | Fuse
Fuse holder for a safety fuse (see technical specifications p. 50). Only fuses with
identical ratings must be used.
10 | Mains connection
Power inlet of the device to be used with the supplied power cord or a cable
with the same plug type. The Linear D must only be operated on the mains volt-
age which the unit has been designed for. This can be read on the type label on
the bottom side of the device.
