2 transmitter telemeter 12V
Ref : 222 082
1 Description
These instructions describe the experiments that can be performed with the Moduson
ultrasound modular system. The following is the optimum composition:
• 1 transmitter-telemeter, part no. 222 082, powered by 12V power supply part. 281 512 or
• 2 identical ultrasound receivers (Part no.222 078) equipped with an output designed to be
• 1 dual track (Part no. 223 005) fitted with a slot for the transmitter and two guide rails
• 3 shielded cables for connection (with BNC socket and banana plugs) (Part no. 283 328).
A BNC output provides the signal emitted by the transmitter.
The following is the minimum composition:
2 Operating instructions
1. The use of a shielded cable to connect the receiver part no. 222 028 or 222 078 to an
2. The transmitter-telemeter is fitted with an automatic rearming fuse; in case of a
3 Objective
1. To demonstrate the vibratory nature of an ultrasound wave
2. To measure the velocity, period and frequency of an ultrasound wave
3. To observe the existence of points vibrating in phase
4. To verify the relation  = V/N
5. To measure a distance using ultrasound waves

a 15 V power supply part. 281 486. The frequency of the transmitter can be adjusted to
about 40 kHz.
The transmission of ultrasonic waves is triggered by an On/Off switch. A reversing switch
helps obtain either a continuous transmission or a transmission in bursts. A second
reversing switch helps select the duration of the bursts:
Long bursts: duration of 6 ms, with a gap of 4 ms between bursts
Short bursts: duration of 1 ms, with a gap of 4 ms between bursts
This function is used to measure distances from 0 to 30 cm using the sonar and scan
techniques. Actually, this technique requires that the echo reflected by the object does
not get mixed up with the burst emitted, which requires the use of short bursts.

connection leading to a short circuit, the device goes into standby mode and does not
emit any signals. In this case, switch off the power supply to the device, rectify the short
circuit then wait for a few seconds and switch it back on.
