2 Safety related information
The UT50 series multimeters have a double insulation and are compliant
with the EN61010-1 standards (Cat.I 1000 V, Cat.II 600 V and Cat.III 300 V).
The following safety rules must be respected in order to ensure maximum
safety of personnel when using this measuring device.
1. Do not use the device when the rear hood is open, the terminals could
deliver a high voltage.
2. Do not use the device if the power or test cords seem to be damaged, or
in case of abnormal operation of the device.
3. Replace the batteries to ensure accurate readings as soon as the low
battery indicator comes on.
4. Place the device on the function and range suitable for each
measurement.
5. Measuring voltages exceeding the limits of the multimeter can damage the
device and expose the user to electrocution.
6. Do not rotate the rotary switch during measurements.
7. Take great care when working with voltages greater than 60 V DC or 30 V
AC RMS, which can cause electrical shocks.
8. This device is designed to be used with voltages less than 1000 V DC or
750V AC. Accidental use of the device on a high voltage power supply with
high current while it is configured for milliampere measurements can be
extremely dangerous.
9. Power off the circuit to be tested before opening, unsoldering or
disconnecting it. Low intensity currents can prove to be dangerous.
