Caring for the Battery
You can lengthen the life of your Battery by following some simple guidelines.
Always charge the Battery indoors in a garage or other covered area where it will be dry and
protected from the weather.
Only charge the Battery when the temperature is at least 32ºF (0ºC) – above freezing – but not
more than 104ºF (40ºC). Charging in lower or higher temperatures can be harmful to the Battery.
Always keep the Battery away from water, heat sources (stoves, radiators, open flame, etc.), and
hazardous chemicals.
Always use the NEUTON Mower CE 5.2 Charger to charge the Battery; never attempt to use any
other Charger. Use of a different Charger may cause a fire or explosion.
Never use the Charger on any other product. Never operate a damaged Charger. If there is
damage to a cord or the Charger Unit, replace the Charger or have it repaired.
Do not worry about leaving the Battery charging for longer than twelve (12) hours – you cannot
overcharge the Battery and will not cause damage after twelve (12) hours. It will not impact the
Battery to leave it on the Charger for up to six (6) months.
When storing the Battery after removing it from the Mower, follow the storage guidelines in
"Chapter 7: Maintaining and Storing Your NEUTON Mower".
For long-term storage, please see "Recharging to Full Charge for Off-Season Storage" on page 30.
If the Motor will not run after you have fully charged the Battery, consult the techniques in "Chapter
8: Troubleshooting Tips". If you still need help, call Toll Free 1-866-NEUTON1 (638-8661) and one
of our Technical Support Representatives will be happy to assist you.
Recycling your Used Battery
NEVER ATTEMPT TO DISPOSE OF YOUR BATTERY IN A FIRE. THE CELLS MAY EXPLODE.
PLEASE DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES RESPONSIBLY, ACCORDING TO YOUR LOCAL HAZARDOUS
MATERIALS REGULATIONS. NEVER THROW AWAY USED BATTERIES IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD TRASH.
Please dispose of your used Batteries responsibly by recycling them. Call your local Solid Waste
Management District or your local waste handler to locate the collection site nearest you. Some
collection sites recycle Batteries year-round; others collect them periodically.
You can also visit the Web site of Earth 911 for more information [www.earth911.org]. Once there,
click the Municipal HHW link under Hazardous Household Waste, and enter your zip code. The site
lists recycling centers located near you.
For a fee, you can recycle your Batteries with the International Metals Reclamation Company. Visit
them at www.inmetco.com and click Services; or contact them at:
