Stand-by-mode & switching off
∙ If the boiling process has been interrupted by pressing
, the appliance can be put into stand-by mode or
switched off.
∙ Turn the rotary control until only the main indicator light
remains lit. The unit is now in stand-by-mode.
∙ The unit can be switched off by selecting
pressing the rotary control
Cable storage
The cable storage space serves for storing the cable.
The recess at the bottom facilitates limiting the length of the
power cord.
Cleaning and care
∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected
from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
∙ For safety reasons the coffee maker should not be
treated with water or liquids and should never be
immersed.
∙ Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
After each use:
∙ Clean the filter system and heat-retaining carafe:
To remove the coffee grounds, open the swing-out
filter, take off the lid and lift out the filter insert. Take out
the paper filter with the coffee grounds; as a natural
substance, the coffee grounds may be composted.
The drip-through lid, filter lid and filter insert may be
cleaned in hot soapy water, or in the dish-washer.
∙ Do not dismantle the carafe, do not wash in a
dishwasher and do not immerse it in water.
∙ After use, once the jug has cooled, open it up by turning
the lid anti-clockwise (
jug out and use a damp cloth to wipe the outside clean.
∙ The individual parts should be thoroughly dried and then
re-fitted to the unit.
If required:
∙ Wipe the outer surfaces using a clean damp cloth; dry
thoroughly afterwards.
∙ Wipe the inside of the reservoir with a clean damp cloth.
To prevent the outlet-valve of the water reservoir from
getting clogged, use a non-fluffy cloth to clean the water
reservoir and the glass jug.
∙ To remove any coffee deposits from the inside of the
heat-retaining carafe, fill it with hot water and add a
teaspoon of dishwasher detergent. Close with the
lid and leave it standing for some hours. Rinse out
thoroughly with water afterwards.

Descaling
∙ Depending on the water quality (lime content) in your
area as well as the frequency of use, all thermal
household appliances using hot water need descaling
(i.e. removal of lime deposits) on a regular basis to
warrant proper functioning.
∙ Any warranty claim will be null and void if the
appliance malfunctions because of insufficient
descaling.
∙ The indicator
starts flashing when the unit needs
descaling.
∙ Descaling must not be done right away, but should be
done soonest.
∙ Descaling may also be initiated any time prior to the
indicator flashing.
∙ For descaling we recommend using a mixture of 6 cups
of water and 50 ml of vinegar essence.
∙ Place a paper filter into the plastic filter (without using
ground coffee).
∙ Fill the cold descaling solution into the water reservoir.
∙ Turn the rotary control to
the main indicator light
∙ Pour away the descaling solution once it has passed
through the system. Do not pour descalers down
enamel sinks. Do not use the descaling solution a
second time.
∙ Once descaling has finished, the light ring starts
flashing.
∙ To clean the machine after descaling operate it twice
or three times with fresh cold water only (without using
ground coffee). To start the process, select the symbol
and press the rotary control
and press it. The light ring,
and
are lit.
