1 Operating manual for Cascademax® waterfall and stream pumps
Ubbink Cascademax® pumps are high quality products that are based on the latest technology. The pumps are equipped with a frugal, extremely efficient and very reliable
motor system with adaptive frequency technology and a ceramic drive shaft. The pumps can be precisely aligned at the installation site with the aid of the adjustable feet.
Cascademax® pumps are specially designed for use as stream and waterfall pumps.
Instructions for the use of this operating manual
Before using the device for the first time, please read this manual carefully and familiarise yourself with the device. For the proper and safe use of this device, please ensure that you
observe the safety instructions. Please keep this operating manual in a safe place! Please pass on the manual on change of ownership. All work performed with this device must be in
accordance with this manual.
Special features
Cascademax® Fi pumps have a number of special features that distinguish them from other pond pumps.
HEP – (high efficiency pump)
A robust and powerful pump with an extremely low power consumption, suitable for continuous service.
AFM – (adaptive frequency motor)
Top performance – and nevertheless extremely quiet.
NSS – (no sponge system)
Low-maintenance due to a specially formed housing with precisely tailored intake slots, which dispenses with the need for high-maintenance filter foam.
TPS – (thermal protection system)
Additional protection against overheating through the integral thermostatic switch.
CST – (ceramic shaft technology)
Enhanced efficiency through the low-friction and low-noise motor operation due to the high quality drive shaft manufactured from technical ceramics.
Safety instructions
This device has been manufactured in accordance with the latest technology and current safety regulations. Nevertheless, the device can cause injury or damage to people and
property if the device is not used for its intended purpose or if the safety instructions are ignored.
• The power supply must must be in accordance with the product specifications. Do not switch on the device if the power supply does not comply with the specified regulations (VDE
0100-702)! You can obtain further information from your local certified electrician.
• The power supply circuit must be protected with a residual current device (FI or RCD) with a maximum residual current rating of 30 mA.
• The power supply for the device must be connected more than 3.5 m away from the pond.
• Always disconnect the power supply before working on the device (installation, maintenance etc.) or before you put your hand into the water!
• The device must not be operated when people are are in the water!
• It is not permitted to open the device or any of its parts except where expressly indicated in this operating manual. The same also applies to technical modifications to the device.
• The power plug and all connections must be kept dry at all times. Make sure the connecting cable is protected to prevent possible damage.
• The device must not be operated without water as this may cause irreparable damage.
• This device is suitable for pumping water with a minimum temperature of 10°C up to a maximum of 35°C.
• Do not operate devices that are obviously damaged! - The power cable cannot be replaced. - If the power cable is damaged, the device must be disposed of in the proper manner.
• Never use the cable to carry the device, and never pull the device out of the pond by the cable.
• Never remove the plug by cutting through the cable, and never shorten the cable. Failure to comply with these operating instructions will invalidate your warranty!
• This device may be used by children from the age of eight years upwards and by people with physical, sensory or mental disabilities or lacking suitable knowledge and experience,
if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the device and are aware of the resulting hazards. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user
maintenance must not be carried by unsupervised children.
General warnings
Packaging parts can be dangerous (e.g. plastic bags) these must be therefore stored out of the reach of children and pets.
Intended use
The pumps of the Smartmax® range work with frugal, reliable and powerful motors with adaptive frequency technology that guarantee a delivery head of 4.0m (Cascademax 6000),
6.0 m (Cascademax 9000/12000) and 6.5 m (Cascademax 14000/16000).
Note: It is possible that lubricant can leak out while the pump is operating; this can result in pollution of the water.
