SMART EDITION
The SMART EDITION has the
ADAPT'LIGHT™ technology: it
measures the surrounding light and
adjusts the LEDs intensity to distribute the right
amount of light to your plants throughout the
day.
ADAPT'LIGHT ™ responds to light from direct
sunlight and sensitivity may vary depending on
the orientation of the Garden, the height of
Lighting Poles and plant height.
Even in the sunlight, the SMART Veritable Garden
will never turns off completely to preserve the
benefits of its specific light spectrum that develops
the flavours of your plants.

GROWING AND HARVESTING TIPS

Germination and growth speed
Each plant is different, it is normal that your 4
Lingots do not grow at the same speed. Refer to
Lingot's packaging for an estimate of how long
your seeds will take to germinate and be ready
to harvest. Many factors impact germination and
growth speed (e.g., temperature, humidity level).
Like in nature, some seeds may not germinate.
If none have sprouted after 15 days, see
«Troubleshooting» or contact our Customer
Service.

PRUNING AND HARVESTING
If you want stronger, more compact plants, and
bigger harvests you need to prune and harvest
plants early and often.
- Plants compete for light. Spreading leaves
must be trimmed to make sure each plant get
enough light.
- Never harvest more than 1/3 of each individual
plant at a time.
- Cut your plants with scissors or by pinching
them off with your fingers.
- To keep all flavors and freshness it is best to use
your herbs and flowers right after harvesting.
Tips for Herbs
All Basils:
• Early pruning: about 3-4
weeks after planting (or
when the plant has 3 pairs
of leaves), pinch off the top
just above a new leaf set.
• Harvesting: Focus on the
largest or uppermost leaves
or cut a stem just above a
set of leaves.
Parsley and Cilantro:
• Cut the entire stem near
the base of the plant,
from the outer portions
(not inside).
Dill:
• As soon as the plant has
4-5 leaves you can start
harvesting.
• Cut the widest stem where
two stems join.
Chives:
• Start harvesting after 5
weeks or when it starts to bend.
• Gather all chives in one hand and cut 1/3 of the
plant height.
• The more you harvest, the thicker and fuller the
chives will become.
Thyme, Oregano, Savory, Mint, Lemon Balm, Sage:
• Cut the tallest and outermost stems, just above
a set of leaves.
Note for aromatic herbs only:
If you see any flowers, pinch them off right
away. Herbs allowed to flower will soon go to
seed, become less savoury, and stop growing.
Tips for Greens:
• Cut the top 1-2 inches off the entire plant (for a
single harvest)
or, if you want a longer harvest period,
• Cut the outer leaves/stems individually at the
base of the plant.
Tips for edible flowers:
• Prune large leaves that shade other plants
• Only collect fully open, healthy-looking blooms.
• Make the cut directly behind the flower head
and leave 1 inch (2cm) of stem attached.
• Deadhead flowers to encourage more
production.
• Always prune and harvest when lights are on.
• Optional: Prior to using remove the
reproductive parts of the blooms (it can affect
the flavor and some people are allergic to it).
Zucchini Flowers: Blooming time is very short.
Don't wait too long. Pick flowers in the morning
when they are wide open.
Tips for fruiting plants:
• Pick frequently, as soon as the fruits are ripe
(this encourages the production of more fruit).
• The leaves will naturally start wilting as the
plant is going to start forming fruits.
Do not eat leaves; they are harmful if ingested by
humans or pets.
