Fitting the speed bar
The speed system load and travel is directed through a system of
pulleys. From the risers the lines run on each side through the pul-
leys at chest height (1), through the slots in the neoprene (2) and the
1
small pulleys (3) at the end of the seatboard. Finally the lines are knot-
ted on the speed bar, so that the bar hangs about 10 to 20 cm (de-
pending on the pilot's leg length) below the harness when the lines
are stretched and supported from a correctly simulated connection
2
on the risers.
3
The AXESS 2 AIR has hold-back elastic for the speed bar. This
makes sure that it stays close underneath the seatboard when not
in use, and doesn't interfere with a reserve deployment. The sewn-
in elastic should be pulled through the round plastic rings (4) on the
edge of the seatboard and fastened to the speed bar as closely as
possible – but without the elastic being under tension.
After testing in fl ight, or in the suspended harness, the speed system
should be fi ne tuned with the knots on the speed bar (or at the Brum-
mel hooks), to make sure that the total accelerate system travel can
be used.
