The plug—on relay offers a small—scale solution to
the problem of the high beam / low beam switch. A
mini—button (ground via handlebars) on the hand-
lebar will suffice, and there are only four wires
leading from outside the headlight to the relay:
button, 12V (+) and 12V (light) and ground, the high
beam indicator light can be wired inside the head-
light.
If the ignition switch used does not have an extra
position for light and no other separate light switch
is provided, the two outer terminals of the relay (L)
and (+) must be connected with a jumper.

When connecting the cables, make sure that they
do not fray and use wire end ferrules. Insert the
cable into the terminal and tighten the screw ca-
refully.
The input side of the pushbutton or the high beam
control lamp is connected to the terminals (S) and
(HB) respectively. The other (output) side of the
control lamp and the pushbutton are connected to
vehicle ground.
If the terminal (L) is de—energized, the relay auto-
matically switches to low beam, so that this is al-
ways the first to light up when the light is switched
on. Switching to high beam and back to low beam
is done by pressing the handlebar button.
