Before Initial Use

ATTENTION!
Danger of suffocation from plastic fi lm and bags! Keep children and animals away
from the packaging material.
Clean the device in the manner described in this chapter. It is possible that production
residues may still be adhering to the surfaces.
1. Unpack the items supplied and check them for completeness (see the "Items Sup-
plied and Device Overview" chapter) and transport damage. If the kettle, base sta-
tion, plug or mains cable does have damage, do not use the device (!), but contact
our customer service department.
2. Before using the device, remove all packaging materials and any labels that may be
on the device and are used for protection during transportation or for advertising.
3. Wipe the kettle with a clean, damp cloth. Rinse out the kettle with a little mild deter-
gent and clear water. But make sure that no water gets into the contacts on the
bottom of the kettle! This could cause a short circuit.
4. On the bottom of the base station you can wind up or unwind the mains cable to the
length you require. Then place the cable into the slot which is provided for it on the
edge of the base station.
5. Place the base station on a dry, heat-resistant, fl at surface a suffi cient distance away
from fl ammable objects.
6. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed and earthed 220 – 240 V mains socket
with earthing contacts.
7. Fill the kettle up to the Max marking with drinking water and allow it to boil (see the
"Use" chapter). Then pour this water away. Repeat this process twice.
8. The kettle is now ready for operation!
