3 Experiments

3.1 Schematic diagram

The diagram is represented in
the figure hereof.
In position (1), the generator E
provides a constant voltage that
charges the capacitor C through
a resistance R for a duration Δt.
At the end of charging, the capacitor
is discharged through resistance R by
short-circuiting, with the reversing switch K
in position (2).
The ammeter A measures the intensity
i of the charging current.
Note: If the measurement of the intensity is not desired then the ammeter is
replaced by a short circuit jumper.
3.2 Preliminary adjustment of the voltage
The voltage source is set to a value between 3 and 10 V (for example
E = 9 V) using a voltmeter connected between points A and B. The reversing
switch K is in position 2 to avoid charging the capacitor.

ESAO ammeter adaptor and display the corresponding curve on a computer
