Safety precautions
This symbol
"Danger" or "Warning" indicates the risk level deriving from failure to observe the
prescribed safety precautions:

1. GENERAL INFORMATION
Please observe the following instructions to achieve the best pump perform-
ance possible and a trouble free installation.
These pumps are used for pumping water starting from open wells of Ø ∆ 100
mm (4").
With the application of the European Regulation 547/2012, the
minimum efficiency index after 01/01/2013 must be:
MEI ≥ 0.10. Likewise, it must be: MEI ≥ 0.40 after 01/01/2015.
The reference value for the most efficient hydraulic pumps is
rated at MEI ≥ 0.70.
The performance curves and efficiency characteristics can be
checked on the technical catalogues and on www.espa.com.
The operation of this hydraulic pump with variable operating
points can be cheaper and more efficient when controlled with,
for example, a speed regulation control that adjusts the pump's
operation to the system performance.
The efficiency reference criteria can be found on the following
link:
http://global.espa.com/doc-descarrega-1/fingerprints.pdf
These are self-priming vertical multistage centrifugal pumps having more
than one impeller assembled in-line. The same flow passes through each
impeller but the pressure increases each time, i.e. more impellers, more pres-
sure. The electric motor is inside the pump and it's cooled by the discharge
water.
These pumps are designed to operate with clean water, with a maximum of
sand suspension of 100 gr./m
degrees centigrade.
Correct pump operation is assured providing the instructions on elec-
trical connection, installation and use are strictly adhered to.
Failure to adhere to the instructions can result in premature failure of
the pump and voiding of the warranty.
The pump mustn't be used in a swimming-pool while people are
swimming. The motor contains special lubricant oil, certified for con-
tact with food. In case of pouring out, the smell and the colour of
water aren't damaged and it isn't harmful for health.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1 - Fixing
The pump mustn't rest on the bottom of the well neither near the walls. To
avoid it, the pump will be hanged with a cable through the handles, which are
in the top of the pump. The pump will never be hanged by the electric cable
neither by the discharge pipe.
Is essential to fit level probes to avoid the pump working dry.
To avoid breaking cables, it's advised to fix them to the discharge pipe with
the help of brackets.
The maximum immersion level depends on the pump model. See fig. 2.

things.

tions involves the risk of damaging the pump
and/or the plant.

and with a maximum temperature of 35

2.2 - Discharge pipe assembly

Pumps are supplied for the 1" gas pipes installation. It is recomended to use
pipes with a greater diameter to reduce the loss of load.
Pipework must be supported and not rest on the pump.
It's advised to install a check valve to avoid the pipe emptying.

2.3 - Electrical connection

The electrical installation must be effectively earthed and must comply
with the national regulations currently in force.
The electrical installation must have a multi pole isolator with minimum
∆ 3mm contact openings protected by a 30 ma. residual current detec-
tor (earth leakage trip).
The single-phase motors have built-in thermal fuse which disconnects
the power supply in the event of overload.
On three phase motors the installation of a thermal protection system
is the responsibility of the end user.
The pumps are supplied with cable. If you wish to lengthen it, use only
H07 RN-F cable and resin cable joints. Take special care to ensure
that the colours of the pump cable coincide with those of the exten-
sion.
For the single-phase versions, connect the capacitor with the protec-
tion board, on the outside of the well.
Follow instructions given on fig.1 for correct electrical connection.

2.4 - Pre-start checks

Ensure the voltage and frequency of the supply correspond to the
values indicated on the electrical data label.
For the single-phase versions check that the capacitor's capacity is as
stated on the specifications plate.
Ensure that the pump is submerged into the water.
THIS PUMP MUST NEVER BE DRY RUN.
3. STARTING
Ensure all valves in the pipework are open.
Connect power supply and the pump will start. Water could take some min-
utes to cross the length of the pipe.
The direction of rotation of the pump must be anticlockwise, that is, in the
opposite direction to the way clock hands move (viewed from the foot of the
pump). This means that the inertia of the pump at start-up must be contrary
to t∏he pump rotation direction.
For the three-phase versions, if the flow is less than expected the pump will
rotate in reverse. Invert two phases on the connection board.
If the pump fails to operate refer to the possible faults, causes and solutions
list for assistance.
4. MAINTENANCE
For the correct maintenance of the pump follow the following instructions :
Before carrying out any work on it, disconnect the pump from the
mains power supply.
Under normal conditions these pumps require no special or planned
maintenance.
If the pump will stay a long time without being used, it is recomend-
ed to take it off from the well, clean it and keep it in a dry and aired
place.
In the event of faults, the electric cable substitution or damage occu-
rring to the pump, repairs should only be carried out by an authorised
service agent.
When the pump is eventually disposed of, please note that it contains
no toxic or polluting material. All main components are material iden-
tified to allow selective disposal.
