Problem
CTE is not powering up.
CTE card reader is not working.
CTE is not linking to the IP Gateway.
ENGAGE mobile app is not connecting
to CTE.
CTE denies all access after a long
power outage.

Troubleshooting

No Power LED, no LEDs
No LED at the reader.
No beep or LED with a card.
CTE may not be commissioned.
Weak signal strength.
Cannot link via IP commands.
CTE won't enter link mode.
CTE needs to advertise with
Bluetooth.
CTE cannot connect to ENGAGE
app in Construction Mode.
CTE commissioned to a different
site.
CTE is already linked.
LED flashes red 5 times on card
presentation.
Solution
Check the power connection and check that the power source
is ON. CTE power LEDS will correctly indicate the power type
received, POE, POE+ or +12VDC, +24VDC. See Power on
page 5.
Check the +12 VDC power and ground connections to the
reader. When connected the reader LED should be on. If the
CTE 12V power to the reader is shorted, the CTE fault LED
by the reader connector will be on. Clear the short or find the
open wire and properly connect the CTE reader power.
Check both A/Y (Pink) and B/Z (Tan) wires are properly
connected to the CTE "A" and "B" reader inputs." The LEDS
next to the reader connection should both be blinking with a
proper connection.
To establish a reader connection, press and release the
SCHLAGE button 1 time then the FDR button 2 times to
initiate syncing sequence.
CTE must be commissioned to the same site as the Gateway
before they can link. Check that the CTE commission mode
LED is on and commission CTE if necessary.
CTE and Gateway will only link when signal strength is
adequate. If signal strength is weak, move the CTE or
Gateway away from signal obstructions (metal objects for
example). Keep off of any metal surface by at least an inch.
Link your CTE to the Gateway using the ENGAGE mobile
application.
CTE is not supported by RSI Gateway and will not link in RSI
mode.
Push the CTE SCHLAGE button so the FDR mode CTE will
advertise with Bluetooth.
Check the MODE LED to see if the CTE is in Construction
mode. CTE must be in FDR mode to connect to the Mobile
App in the (+) nearby screen for commissioning. To put in FDR
mode, Press and hold FDR button for 5 seconds, then press
SCHLAGE button 3 times. The FACTORY DEFAULT mode
LED will illuminate.
Check the MODE LED to see if the CTE is already
commissioned. If CTE is commissioned in a different site.
Make sure deleted from all past sites and in FDR mode before
commissioning.
If CTE is linked to a Gateway, push and hold the CTE
SCHLAGE button for five seconds, you will see four
amber blinks of the status LED indicating ENGAGE mobile
application can connect. This will time out, so repeat this
process if the application did not connect soon enough.
The real time clock might need setting. Connecting to the CTE
with the ENGAGE app or connecting during a Wi-Fi call in will
properly set the CTE real time clock. The CTE real time clock
can remain accurate for five days without power, with normal
temperatures.
