When connecting to a separate storage tank (by others), set the internal draw-off
sleeve approximately 1/8" above the static water line, and pipe the 2" IPS draw-off
connection to the storage tank. The storage tank should be approved, installed,
and vented in compliance with local code requirements.
If a manual draw-off is used, set the internal draw-off sleeve approximately 1/4"
below the static water line. Attach a manual shut-off valve (by others) to the 2" IPS
draw-off connection.
OI, OI-400, OI-K, and WO-300 Series interceptors are supplied with a stainless
steel flow control plate, located just inside the interceptor inlet. The flow control
must be in place for the interceptor to maintain proper operation and efficiency.
Oil interceptors must be properly vented to prevent the accumulation of fumes,
which can create a hazardous condition. Vent the two 2" connections on the side
of the interceptor to the atmosphere, with one terminated approximately 12" above
the other. Fixtures serviced and inlet and discharge piping should be vented as
required by local code.
Pipe connections are either no hub or IPS. Make no hub connections with a suit-
able no hub or transition coupling (by others); IPS connections are made with an
IPS nipple (by others) corresponding to the interceptor's connection size.
Maintenance
To maintain efficiency, oil interceptors should be periodically inspected and kept
free of significant accumulations of oil and debris. The frequency of inspection is
dependent upon specific application conditions; at a minimum inspections should
be performed annually.
