Note: To avoid tea-staining on the stainless steel surface at the base
of your kettle, do not reheat the same pot of tea twice. Reheating tea
in your kettle may result in a bronze color tea stain appearance on the
stainless steel surface at the base of the kettle. This is caused by tea
residue that adheres to the bottom of the kettle when reheated at high
temperatures. After a few cycles, the surface of the stainless base may
begin to turn a bronze color. To avoid this issue, thoroughly rinse the
inside of your kettle after you brew your first pot of tea.
To remove the bronze color staining, dilute a small amount of food-grade
white vinegar to a fresh kettle full of water and boil. This will remove the
staining and/or any mineral deposits that may build up in your kettle. After
boiling, allow to cool and thoroughly wash before your next brew.
RECIPES
ICED TEA
Double brewing tea makes for a delicious iced tea. Serve immediately
over ice or chill in the refrigerator. The recipe below calls for black tea,
but any tea can be iced. Teas and tastes vary – so feel free to experiment
with the amount of tea to use to find your favorite strength. Doubling
works well for black tea, but go a little less for green.
• Makes four 8-ounce drinks.
• 4 cups cold water
• 9 teaspoons loose black tea (or 9 tea bags)
• ice cubes
Fill the Thinkkitchen Precision Kettle with water to the 1 liter (4-cup)
marking.Turn kettle on, press PROG button and select temperature set-
ting for Black tea (212º F). Add ingredients to the tea infuser once water
reaches desired temperature. Steep tea for approx. 4 minutes. Once
the time has elapsed, very carefully raise the tea infuser from the water
and add ice, about 2 standard trays or 24 ice cubes. Cover with kettle
lid for serving. Transfer tea to a serving pitcher to store in refrigerator. To
serve, pour into tall glasses of ice.
