Initial operation of the transmitter

General information about the
General information
The Graupner HoTT system theoretically permits
simultaneous operation of more than 200 models. Ho-
wever, because only mixed radio-frequency operation is
permitted with certification for the 2.4 GHz ISM band, this
number is significantly lower in practice. Nevertheless, in
general more models can be operated simultaneously in
the 2.4 GHz band than would be the case in conventional
35 or 40 MHz frequency bands. As often the case previ-
ously, the real limiting factor is still likely to be the size of
available operating space (i.e. airspace for aircraft). The
fact that it is no longer necessary to coordinate transmit-
ting frequencies with other pilots is not only convenient, it
is also an enormous boost for safety, especially in cases
where groups of pilots are distributed over terrain with
limited visibility.
Transmitter batteries strong enough or charged?
ATTENTION:
When the voltage drops below 3.6 V, an audible warning
signal sounds and the LED status indicator
begins to flash rapidly. Do not begin using the
transmitter and replace the batteries immedi-
ately!
Initial operation of the transmitter
To power on the transmitter, press the POWER key
for about 1 second. After powering on, the transmitter's
status LED lights up/flashes (accompanied by beeps) to
indicate the current status:

Changing models:
Up to 50 receivers can be bound to the transmitter.
Proceed as follows to change the model:
Power on transmitter and receiver (model).
When the current receiver (model) is identical with the
one most recently used with the transmitter, the green
LED is continuously illuminated (accompanied by
three low beeps) and the model responds to control
commands.
When the current receiver (model) is not identical, the
green LED is flashes rapidly (accompanied by three
low beeps) and, for safety reasons, the model does
not respond.
The joysticks can be pressed downward to trigger
internal switches. Press down the left joystick, and the
transmitter will begin to search for activated receivers.
When a receiver is identified that has already been
bound to the transmitter, the green LED is continuous-
ly illuminated (accompanied by three low beeps) and
the model responds to control commands – while all
settings for the particular model are available.
The green LED continues to flash when no receiver is
identified. Refer to the chapter on model base setup
"Binding the transmitter and receiver" on page 21 to
bind the receiver to the transmitter.
Important notices:
As many as six servos can be attached to the stan-
dard receiver included with the
12
HoTT 2.4 set. The specific receiver included in
the set has already been bound to the set's transmit-
ter at the factory.
When the remote control system is switched on,
being bonded or when making settings, ensure that
the transmitter is always far enough away from the
receiver's antennas. Moving the transmitter too close
to the receiver's antennas causes receiver over-mo-
dulation and the green LED does not illuminate. At
the same time the return channel is deactivated, and
the green status LED flashes slowly with the accom-
panying warning sounds. The remote control is then
in Failsafe Mode (refer to page 24). In such a case,
increase the distance until the indicators show nor-
mal operation.
Powering off the transmitter:To power off the transmit-
ter, press the POWER key for about 2 seconds. The LED
status indicator is not illuminated and a beep is heard.
