Clearance to Combustible Constructions
1. Remove all boxes of firebricks and any packaging from
inside the appliance.
2. Clean out the masonry fireplace ensuring the ashes
are placed in a metal container.
3. Remove or lock open the damper plate in the masonry
fireplace.
4. Contact local building, fire officials or authorities hav-
ing jurisdiction about permits, restrictions and installa-
tion inspection requirements in your area.

5. The insert must be installed in compliance with the
minimum clearances to combustible constructions and
floor protection stated on appliance certifications la-
bel (located on back of unit) and listed below. Refer to
Page 5 for further instructions about floor protection.

6. Install the refractory bricks. (Fig. 3)
7. Install faceplate onto insert. (Page 7) The trim should
fit against the face of the fireplace. If this is not a good
fit, a 2" (51 mm) wide strip of fiberglass insulation can
be used to insure a good fit.
