8. Can I use the beurer SalonPro System on brown or black skin?
Do not use the beurer SalonPro System on naturally dark skin! It does not work!
The beurer SalonPro System is a light-based device that removes undesired hair by means of the selec-
tive treatment of the hair pigment. A different amount of pigment is present in the surrounding skin tis-
sue. The amount of pigment in the skin of any given person – which can be seen by the colour of the
skin – determines the degree of risk that the person is exposed to when using the beurer SalonPro Sys-
tem. Treating dark skin with a light-based hair removal procedure can have adverse consequences,
such as burns, blisters or discolouration of the skin (hyper- or hypopigmentation). The beurer SalonPro
System features an integrated skin colour sensor, which measures the colour of the treated skin at the
beginning of every treatment session and occasionally during the session itself. The skin colour sensor
prevents the beurer SalonPro System from issuing further pulses if it detects that the device is being
used on darker skin tones.
9. When will I see the results of the beurer SalonPro System?
As with all other hair removal devices that are based on light or lasers, the results cannot be seen
immediately and you could even think that nothing has happened at all. After a hair removal session,
the hair sometimes appears to grow back, but normally, the majority of these hairs will simply fall out
after two weeks. Additionally, hair grows in three different stages and the beurer SalonPro System only
has an effect on the hairs in the active growth phase. This is one of the main reasons why multiple ses-
sions are necessary to achieve the desired result.
10. Can men use the beurer SalonPro System?
Although the beurer SalonPro System was developed for women, the device is also suitable for use by
men. However, men's hair – typically on the chest – will require more hair removal sessions than women
do to achieve the desired results.
11. Why is my hair still growing although I treated them a week ago?
It may seem as though the hair is still growing up to two weeks after a hair removal session using the
beurer SalonPro System. This is know as the "ejection" process and, after around two weeks, you will
find that the hairs simply fall out or can be pulled out with a slight tug. (However, we do not recommend
that you pull on the hairs – simply let them fall out naturally). It is also possible that some hairs are not
affected by the beurer SalonPro System due to a missed application or different growth phases. These
hairs are treated in subsequent sessions and this is why several hair removal sessions are required to
achieve the best results with the beurer SalonPro System.
12. Is it true that some hairs grow back thinner and finer after a light-based hair removal treat-
ment?
This phenomenon has been excessively documented by beauticians and doctors who use light- and
laser-based hair removal devices. It is possible that some hairs grow back thinner and finer after hair
removal using the beurer SalonPro System. Normally, these hairs are a mere fraction of those that were
originally there and further treatment can have the desired effect on them.
13. Why can't I perform a treatment when I have an "active" tan?
Do not use the beurer SalonPro System on tanned skin or after exposure to the sun! Tanned skin, espe-
cially after exposure to the sun, contains a large amount of the pigment melanin. This applies to all skin
types and colours, including those that do not seem to tan quickly. The presence of a large amount of
melanin exposes the skin to an increased risk of negative consequences in relation to the use of the
beurer SalonPro System, including burns, blistering and discolouration of the skin (hyper- or hypopig-
mentation).
