Valve positions
Always turn of the pump before changing the valve position!
FILTER
Set valve to FILTER for normal filtering. Also use for regular vacuuming. Start the pump. It is
recommended to follow the pressure gauge during filtration regularly. It will tell when the filter is
starting to clog, and it is time to do the backwash. That should be done even with smaller pressure
if the water flow is reduces noticeably.
BACKWASH
Thousands of channels are formed in the filter mass, which impurities in the water remain in the
filtration. The number of free channels in which water can flow is continuously reduced during
filtration. As a result, the pressure increases steadily until the filtrate mass is no longer able to
collect impurities and needs to be cleaned as follows:
Stop the pump, set valve to BACKWASH. Start pump and backwash until running water is clear.
Approximately 2 minutes or less depending on dirt accumulation. Proceed to RINSE.
RINSE
After backwashing, with pump off, set valve to RINSE. Start pump and operate for about 30 s to 1
minute. This ensures that all dirty water from backwashing is rinsed out of the filter / piping to
waste, preventing possible return to the pool. Stop pump, set valve to FILTER and start pump for
normal filtering. This position can also be used to empty the pool to waste.
WINTER
The valve is open so that it will not load on the gasket.
Winterization
When the filter stored for winter it should be stored into a warm storage to avoid freezing damage.
Before that it is good to empty the system completely from water. The pump can be emptied via
the plug on the prefilter. Open the plug and let the water run out also tilt the pump so you make
sure all the water comes out. The filter tank is emptied the same way through its own drain plug.
Leave the outlets open and place the plugs into safe place for the winter so you find them in the
spring.
