- The distance R between the two ANC 100/15 horns shall be such that:
R ≥ 2d

must therefore be measured using the OND 100 wavemeter and R be measured accurately.

The horns shall be perfectly aligned on both planes (E and H).
- Make sure to avoid any obstacle in the horns' radiation field.
Proceed as follows:
- Place the ATM 100 attenuator which is nearest to the horns in the zero position.
Actuate the ATM 100 attenuator located before the wavemeter, in order to obtain a correct readout on
the galvanometer of the IR 205 SWR indicator
- Identify this indication, i.e. I
- Do away with the two horns without modifying the previous adjustments; the assembly becomes the
one in the following figure:
OSG 100 ISO 100
- Actuate the ATM 100 variable attenuator located after the OND 100 wavemeter so as to obtain the
same indication as the one identified on the IR 205 with the previous assembly, i.e. I
- Read the power ratio P
- Carry this value over into formula (5) in § 3.3.1 (A summary of the theory on which the experiment is
based) as well as the values λ
The gain is directly obtained in dB.
Take care to use consistent units: λ

Measuring space attenuation
We know that the ratio P

This dependence can be measured by this ratio being measured in dB as indicated previously, but for
