This guide must be translated by the dealer into the language of the country of use (except if the translation is provided by the manufacturer).
For your safety, comply strictly with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
KRATOS SAFETY cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring as a result of use other than provided for in this notice; do not use
this equipment beyond its capabilities and limits!
USE AND PRECAUTIONS
A fall arrester on flexible anchor line is a piece of personal protection equipment; it should be allocated to a single user (it can only
be used by one person at a time). When the user moves (up or down), it slides along the anchor line.
In the event of a fall, the device stops the fall instantly on the anchor line. After a fall, NEVER try to hold on to the arrester as
you may unblock it and fall again!
While using the fall arrester in static mode (on inclined plane) the locked position must be activated (1) according to references
(see table below).
The device is simple to use, small, light, and robust and does not require any particular maintenance.
User safety relies on the effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained
in this leaflet.
Product markings should be checked periodically for legibility.
The sliding fall arrester will be connected directly to an attachment point at the chest of an EN361 harness (A or 2x
A/2) using a connector (EN362).
The anchor line is linked to an anchor point by a connector (EN362), the rope grab is attached onto a safety point on
a harness (EN361). A flexible anchor line should always be weighted by a counterweight.
This kind of device must be assigned to a single user (it can only be used by one person at a time).
Sharp edges, small diameter structures and corrosion should be avoided as they may affect the performance of the
system (2) ; or they should be adequately protected.
The anchorage point for the anchor line should be situated above the user (R>12kN - EN795:2012).
The fall arrest on anchor line must always be used directly below the anchor point (3).
Before use, make sure the arrow etched into the rope grab and the one printed in black colour on the anchor line's identification label are pointing in the
same direction. During use, these two arrows must point up.
Ensure that the general arrangement limits swinging in the event of a fall, and that the work is done in such a way as to limit the risk and the
height of a fall.
For safety reasons and before each use, make sure that in the event of a fall there is no obstacle obstructing the normal fonctioment of the system.
Horizontal use: The FA 20 102 XXA sliding fall arresters have passed the tests of the European RfU sheet PPE-R/11.075, allowing them to be used
on horizontal surfaces (terrace) near a sharp edge (r ≥ 0.5 mm); the angle at the point of contact of the anchor line must be ≥ 90°. Max. user weight:
140 kg.
For horizontal use the anchorage point of the fall arrest system must not be below the user's movement area, and the required clearance under the
sharp edge (= under the user's feet, i.e. under the roof/terrace where the operator is working) must be at least: 5.50 m.
Always take the necessary measures to avoid:
- slack in the anchorage line,
- adjusting the length of the anchorage line by moving to an unsafe zone or close to the drop edge,
- any pendulum effect in the event of a fall: comply with 1.50 m of movement on either side of an axis perpendicular to the fall zone and passing
through the anchorage point, or use an EN 795 Type C or D anchorage point.
Please note the risk of the user colliding with the structure in the event of a fall. Take the necessary measures for a rescue plan in case of a fall on a
sharp edge.
Do not use this fall arrester if the risk assessment carried out before starting work shows there is a risk of falling near a corner of < 90°.
Before and during use, we recommend that you take all the necessary precautions for a safe rescue should it be needed.
This equipment is for the sole use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person. Warning! Certain
medical conditions may affect user safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user's safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (<
-30°C or > 50°C), prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system
during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting, etc.
Before using, always check that the locking system is in working order and that the fall indicator is not triggered (if there is one on the connector). If you
are in any doubt as to the condition of the equipment (traces of oxidation) or after a fall (deformation), do not use it and/or return it to the manufacturer
or a competent person authorised by the manufacturer. Do the same for the anchor line.
It is not allowed to do any repair on the product, do not remove, add or replace any component of the product.
Chemical products: put the system out of use if it comes into contact with chemical products, solvents or fuels which could affect its workings.

IT IS ESSENTIAL TO USE A ROPE GRAB ON THE SPECIFIC ANCHOR LINE ON WHICH IT HAS BEEN CERTIFIED
SUITABILITY FOR USE:
The equipment should be used with a fall arrest system as specified in the data sheet (see standard EN363) to guarantee that the dynamic force exerted
on the user during the arrest of a fall is maxi 6 kN. A fall arrest harness (EN361) is the only body gripping device that may be used. It may be dangerous
to create one's own fall arrest system where each safety function can interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is important to read the
recommendations on using each component in the system before use.
The minimum free space should be: 3 m under the user's feet.
