Installation and Configuration in Windows 98
1. After inserting the ISDN PCI Card TA card in its slot in the PC, the hardware
recognition feature of Windows 98 will recognize a new hardware component and
automatically start the Hardware Wizard. Click Next.
2. Accept the default setting to have the PC search for the device driver, and click
Next.
3. Select Specify a location. Enter the source directory where the driver software is
located.
For example, if your CD-ROM drive uses the drive letter D, enter D:\W98ME2K.
Make sure the installation CD-ROM for your ISDN PCI Card TA is inserted in the
CD-ROM drive. Then click Next.
4. Confirm the location of the driver database by clicking Next again. The Hardware
Wizard will update the driver database, copying the ISDN PCI Card TA driver to
your hard disk drive. This process takes a bit of time; watch the progress
indicator on your screen.
5. When the software installation is completed, the ISDN PCI Card TA configuration
wizard will start. After restarting the PC, Windows 98 will recognize the ISDN PCI
Card TA again. Start the installation again as described in step 1.
Now select the D channel protocol for your ISDN connection.
Your ISDN service provider uses a specific D channel protocol for your ISDN
access. For a European ISDN access this will almost always be DSS1. If the
ISDN provider or the PABX you are connected to uses a different D channel
protocol, select this protocol here. If you do not know which D channel protocol
you are using, contact your telephone company.
6. The two following dialog boxes configure the MSNs for the two available B
channels. Your telephone company will have informed you which MSNs (multiple
subscriber numbers) can be used to call you on ISDN. Only the Dial-Up and the
Loopback Test use the MSNs entered in this dialog box. You can use the same
or different MSNs for the various applications, which are configured there.
7. This will conclude the installation and configuration of the ISDN driver software.
Click Finish to continue.
8. The last installation step requires that the Windows 98 installation CD-ROM be
inserted. Wait for your CD-ROM drive to recognize the new CD-ROM. Enter or
select the correct source path, and click OK. The Windows 98 components for
the NDIS WAN Miniport Driver are installed. During the copying process, you
may see an error message. Should this occur, simply travel through the message
by clicking OK. This concludes the installation process.
9. Click Finish to continue.
10. The Computer has to be restarted for the new installation to take effect. Click
Yes to confirm. After the system restarts, your ISDN PCI Card TA will be ready
to use.
