7. If for installation on, for instance, a roof (i.e. above the manometer) you do not achieve the desired pressure
despite having the control valve completely closed then your pump's capacity is too low. In this instance there
are three options available:
• Change the pool's pump to a more powerful model
• Connect a separate booster pump to the solar collectors (we recommend the Texsun solar controller system
with accompanying booster pump)
• Move the solar collectors to a lower location.
Setting up multiple X-FLOW Kits (fig 4)
X-FLOW Kit is designed as a modular system that can be adjusted to suit all types and sizes of pools and
temperature requirements. The by-pass unit can be extended to provide the possibility for assembly of several
X-FLOW kits together in parallel.
Connecting an additional X-FLOW Kit:
Use the supplied Socket 1" to create additional connection possibilities on the by-pass unit (see fig 4). Note:
with such an installation you will have a control valve over surplus to requirements, this can be kept as a spare
part.
Assembling your X-FLOW Kit using the mounting clips (picture 6)
1. The mounting clips are folded over the outer edge of the solar collectors (see picture 6).
2. Screw fast the clips using screws that are suitable for the surface in question. Assemble one mounting clip
every 75 cm (which equates to five on each side of a solar collector).
Operating instructions for your solar collector system
OPTIMISING THE SUPPLY OF ENERGY
In order to achieve optimal supply of energy from the solar collectors, the pump should only be in operation
when the sun is out. In order to shut off the solar collector system (during rainy or cold weather) you should
OPEN the by-pass unit's control valve completely and allow the water to flow through it as normal.
To start up your solar collector system again you should SLOWLY CLOSE the control valve until the manometer
shows the appropriate pressure (see "Adjusting the pressure" above).
The system can also be equipped with an solar controller that performs this process automatically. Contact
your X-FLOW Kit dealer for more information.
BACKWASHING OF FILTER
Since the adjustment of the system occurs with a completely clean filtration unit, the pressure to your solar col-
lector system will be reduced when the filter is dirty. You should therefore check that the pressure is correctly
set each day when starting up the system.
To achieve optimal performance from the solar collectors and the best water quality it is recommended to fol-
low the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines for backwashing the filter. During backwashing of the filter
the by-pass unit's control valve should be COMPLETELY OPEN. Once backwashing of the filter is complete the
control valve should be SLOWLY CLOSED until desired pressure is achieved.
Maintenance
Minor damage can be easily fixed using a standard PVC-glue. Always follow the glue manufacturer's instructions.
After the swimming season
1. Shut down the pool's circulation pump (pull the plug).
2. Loosen the hoses from the solar collectors to the by-pass and empty these of water.
3. Unscrew the hose brackets from the by-pass unit and empty this of water. The by-pass unit can then be
reattached.
