Fluval Power Filters
of mechanical and biological capabilities. This results in healthier fish and thriving aquatic plants. Fluval
filters come complete with filter media. A variety of other Fluval filter media are available to perform many of
the advanced filter tasks needed by the modern aquarist.
Motor Unit
Fluval's motor is hermetically sealed with epoxy to ensure that it will continue to operate without difficulty in
adverse conditions. It does not require liquid or air coolant and can be placed in a closed cabinet with
restricted air flow. The design is extremely energy efficient, requiring minimal energy consumption.
Fluval canister filters require no motor maintenance. The motor has no moving parts except for the impeller.
Impeller and Ceramic Impeller Shaft Insert
Fluval increases efficiency and long-term durability by providing a removable Ceramic Impeller Shaft Insert. It
can be easily replaced. It's operation is quiet. Motor life and efficiency are increased.
Self-Cleaning Impeller Well
The Impeller Shaft Insert incorporates a self-flushing channel to keep the unit clean and debris-free during
operation. It backwashes fine silt and debris from the impeller well, reducing maintenance.
Mechanical Filtration Area - Foam Screen
The foam is contained in a convenient, accessible frame. The screen captures large particulate waste to
prevent it from clogging the Biological Filtration Area. The foam's placement ensures efficient mechanical
removal of waste. The massive foam surface captures and lodges large waste. As water flows through the
unit, the waste is broken down into smaller particles.
Biological Filtration Area - Stackable Filter Media
Modules

The modules permit full access to all media. This allows for partial or full filter material changes, based on the
user's requirements. Filter media is used up at different rates. In the case of biological media, it is
recommended to make only partial media changes, so as not to disturb the biological balance of the
aquarium. Fluval's Filter Media Modules provide a convenient way to access the various media types to
perform full or partial media changes.
Directional Output Nozzle
Fluval 4 generation Output Nozzle has been designed to provide strong currents within the aquarium,
th
rotating horizontal flow direction and the ability to be installed above, at, or below the water surface,
depending on the aquarist's need. An important characteristic of any filter is the way it promotes oxygen
replacement in the aquarium. Fluval provides excellent surface agitation.
Self-Priming
A simple pumping motion of the Self-Primer initiates water flow.
Aqua-Stop Feature
The Aqua-Stop Feature allows you to separate the filter from the hose assembly in one easy step. The Aqua-
Stop Valve will automatically stop the flow of water from the aquarium to the filter. This promotes simple and
easy filter maintenance without the need to remove the hose assembly.
