Generalities and operating principles.
The single or three phase variable AC power supplies made by k-factor operates through a high quality toroidal variable transformer
moved by a knob or by a gear motor. A carbon brush slides on the contact surface of the toroidal transformer allowing a gradual and
continuous variation of the output voltage. In case of a manual regulation this is operated by a knob placed on the front or on the
upper side of the unit, otherwise the motor is moved by two push buttons (up-down). According to different models the variable
power supplies are fitted with input and/or output circuit breaker, digital V-meter with a sliding switch for input/output voltage
reading, digital A-meter and front terminals for the connection of the load.

Electrical specification
With an input voltage of 230VAC (± 6% or others on request) for single phase models and 400Vac for the three phase models, output
voltage can be regulated through a knob (or through push buttons for motorized models) from 0 a 250Vac, 400Vac three phase or
others on request (220Vd.c. or others on request for DC output). Please verify the rated input and output voltages on the rating label.
If the product includes the stabilized output control card with R10 remote control (part number ending with –R10) the voltage
variation can be obtained using a 0:10Vdc signal
The stabilized output models have a ±1% output accuracy (if different this is also shown on the rating label)
For the three phase models each phase can be regulated separately. In this case an additional knob can be provided to regulate the
three phases at the same output voltage with a single adjustment.
Important: if input voltage goes over the rated minimum / maximum limit (usually ±6%) the variable transformer could be
damaged. Or could have a high no-load current absorption

Installation and use.
Pick the unit from its packing taking care to the instruction manual.
Single phase models
The power supply is provided with a terminal board consisting in:
a) one terminal marked Np (neutral point)
b) one terminal marked INPUT 230V
c) one terminal marked OUTPUT 0:250V
connect input network to the terminal marked Np and INPUT 230V
connect output 0:250V and Np to the load.
Connect 0:10Vdc source to card STK124_3 terminals marked K1 (+) and K2 (-)
With a 0Vdc source output of the variable transformer is 0V, with a 10Vdc input output is at 100%. When regulation is completed a
yellow led is ON on the STK077 card.
