Inspecting the sprockets:
A worn chain can have an adverse affect on the sprockets,
therefore any time you find damage to the drive chain, you
should also check the front and rear sprockets. When inspect-
ing the sprockets, look for the following:
 Excessively worn teeth
 Broken or damaged teeth
 Loose sprocket mounting nuts
If you find anything wrong with the sprockets, consult your
local authorized service center.
CLEANING/ADJUSTING DRIVE CHAIN
The drive chain should be cleaned, lubricated, and inspected
every time you ride the ATV.
WARNING:
Always inspect the drive chain tension before you ride
the ATV. Too much slack could allow the drive chain to
come off the sprockets, which could cause an accident
resulting in serious personal injury or cause serious dam-
age to the ATV.
Cleaning the drive chain:
 Wash the drive chain with an approved chain cleaner.
 Dry the chain, then lubricate with chain lubricant or the
equivalent.

MAINTENANCE
Adjusting the drive chain:
For proper performance, the drive chain should never have
more than 0.4-0.8 in. (10-20 mm) slack. To adjust the chain:
 Loosen the hub stopper bolt (A) and two axle hub bolts
(B).
 Fit the chain adjustment pin (C) into the threaded opening
(D).
 To adjust the chain, push the ATV forward to loosen or
backward to tighten as needed.
 When the proper adjustment has been achieved, retighten
bolts and torque as follows:
Axle Hub Bolts (B) — 29 ft.lb. (40Nm)
Hub Stopper Bolt (A)— 9 ft.lb. (12Nm)
 Remove and store the chain adjustment pin (C).
