INTRODUCTION
The QUADRAN™ 365 Series NDT lamps feature four ultra-hi-fl ux LEDs for inspection, plus a convenient white light LED to illuminate dark
work areas. A unique dual-intensity feature on the QDR-365S and the QDR-365SBL models provides both high and standard UV-A and
white light output for diversity. The lamps' broad-beam confi guration provides an extremely wide coverage area. Models are available with or
without integral black light fi lters. The lamp handle pin receptacle allows for easy attachment of various Spectroline
for in-line inspection applications (accessories sold separately). The kit includes UV-absorbing spectacles and a soft carrying case.
Ultraviolet radiation emitted from this product. Avoid exposure. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING. EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE PREMATURE AGING OF THE SKIN AND CANCER.
ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR; FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN SEVERE
BURNS OR LONG TERM INJURY TO EYE. Never look directly into the lamp. Exposure can
cause eye and skin allergy and allergic reactions. Medications or cosmetics may increase your
sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. Consult physician before operating this product if you are
using medications or have a history of skin problems or believe yourself especially sensitive
to sunlight.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read all instructions.
• Do not operate the lamp with a damaged cord or if the lamp has been damaged.
• Never use this equipment in any manner not specifi ed in these instructions because the protection provided by the
equipment may be impaired.
• The QUADRAN 365 is not approved for use in hazardous atmospheres. Do not attempt to use it in areas requiring explosion-
proof lighting.
OPERATION
• The QUADRAN 365 series UV-A inspection lamps are equipped with an 8-foot (2.4 m) heavy-duty cord ending in an AC plug
with a protective rubber boot.
• The lamp is shipped with the correct cord installed for the country of destination.
• Connect the plug to a power source that complies with the electrical requirements specifi ed on the label.
• The lamp has a three-position rocker power switch (II–UV; O–off; I–white light ) on the back of the handle. The fan turns on
automatically and the light above the switch illuminates green when the UV LEDs are in use.
• Facing the back of the lamp, the rocker switch on the left of the handle regulates the UV-A LEDs; the rocker switch on the
right regulates the white light LED. Pressing either switch forward produces a higher intensity beam; pressing each switch
backward produces a lower intensity beam.
• The QDR-365S and the QDR-365SBL standard intensity models have only two switches: the three-position rocker power switch
on the back (II–UV; O–off; I–white light) and the two-position rocker switch on the right that regulates the white light intensity.
WARNING: Be sure to use genuine QUADRAN 365 replacement parts. Using another manufacturer's replacement parts could affect
product performance and will void the lamp warranty.
CHANGING THE LAMP CORD
• The appropriate cord for the country of destination will be installed on the lamp when it is ordered. To change the cord, remove
it by sliding the rubber, strain-relief boot down and away from the lamp handle to reveal the jam nut and the tightening nut (see
Figure 1). To separate the cord from the lamp, turn the jam nut a quarter turn with a wrench while holding the tightening nut in
place. Leave the jam nut on the handle. (Do not remove the connector nut.) Turn the tightening nut counterclockwise to remove
it from the lamp's terminal.
• To attach a new cord, align the small peg on the lamp handle's terminal to the corresponding groove on the cord's terminal connector
(see Figure 2), and push them together carefully so that the pins do not become bent. Tighten the jam nut clockwise up to the
connector nut on the handle until it is fully seated. Turn the tightening nut clockwise up to the seated jam nut, then turn the jam nut
counterclockwise to lock the connection.
• When the connection is secure, pull the rubber, strain-relief boot up as tightly as possible. Note that the jam nut may not always be
fl ush with its counterpart on the lamp handle, that is, some threads on the handle may still be visible. This is normal.
REMOVING/INSTALLING THE FILTER PROTECTOR
The rubber fi lter protector containing the clear Borofl oat
around the lamp housing and wipe both sides of the glass with a clean, damp cloth. To replace the protector, press it around the edge of
the housing until the large holes cover the tabs on the housing.
REPLACING THE UV LENSES
The lenses that cover the four UV LEDs must be replaced periodically, since they will solarize (grow cloudy) over time from repeated
use. The white light LED lens will not solarize and does not need replacing.
Remove the rubber fi lter protector, as above, and set it aside.
Remove all four screws from the faceplate and set the screws and faceplate aside. Note that two of the screws are short (bottom left
and top right) and two are longer.
Pry off each of the solarized lenses with a fl athead screwdriver and replace each with a fresh UL-100 lens. Reattach the faceplate and
the fi lter protector.
REPLACING THE PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY
After repeated use, the foam particulate fi lter may need to be replaced. Squeeze the top of the fi lter assembly to loosen and pull it out of the
back of the lamp. Replace it with a new fi lter assembly. NOTE: The serial number is etched on the top of the particulate fi lter assembly.
You must wear the UV-absorbing spectacles supplied. The lamp should be used in
low-light conditions to achieve the best inspection results.
MEASURING LAMP INTENSITY
To ensure that your QUADRAN 365 series lamp is operating at the required UV intensity, it should be checked periodically. The AccuMAX™
XRP-3000 radiometer/photometer kit uses a dual-wavelength UV-A/VIS sensor detector to accurately measure ultraviolet irradiance and
provide visible measurement from a UV-A light source. The AccuMAX™ XR-1000 digital readout unit with the XS-365 UV sensor or the
Spectroline DM-365XA digital readout unit can also be used for UV-A measurement. The meters are specially designed to measure the UV
irradiance with wavelengths of 320–400nm with peak at 365nm. For visible measurement, the AccuMAX™ XRP-3000 or the XR-1000 with
the XS-555I sensor detector will accurately measure the visible light from 460–675nm with peak at 555nm.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The QUADRAN 365 series lamps are designed to be safe under the following conditions:
• Indoor use;
• Altitude up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft.);
• Temperature 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F);
• Maximum relative humidity 80% for temperatures up to 31°C (88°F), decreasing linearly to 50% relative humidity at 40°C (104°F);
• Mains supply voltage fl uctuations not to exceed ±10% of the nominal voltage;
• Installation Category II;
• Pollution Degree 2.
LIMITED WARRANTY
The warranty policy for the QUADRAN 365 lamp is provided on the Certifi cate of Limited Warranty enclosed separately with each unit.
