Symptom
Distributor spitting out water
Condensation in duct
Humidifier is tripping the GFI.
Table 7. General troubleshooting. (Continued)
Cause
Distributor not level
"P" Trap too close to distributor
Condensate line not sloped sufficiently Sufficient slope to ensure flow is required.
Trap blocked
Steam line not insulated
Incorrect steam line installation
Installation clearances not observed
Design conditions changed
High limit not functioning
Humidifier is wired to a GFI circuit.
Drain valve ground wire is not
disconnected.

Corrective Action(s)
Use support at end of distributor to ensure it is
level.
"P" Trap must be a minimum of 12 in (30 cm)
below the distributor to ensure flow. Relocate if
required.
Reinstall if required.
Check that water flows through trap. Clear out if
blocked.
If steam line is long, condensate build up could
overload distributor condensate port. Insulate line
to improve efficiency and install additional
condensate traps as required.
Check that steam line has been installed with
condensate traps and slope. See "Steam Lines
and Condensate Return Instructions" on page 8.
Refer to distributor installation manual for required
clearances. Relocate distributor if required.
Check supply air temperature and humidity to
determine if conditions have changed.
Check setting and operation of high limit. Replace
if defective.
Review the Electrical Installation Steps and Notes
on page 10 for GFI guidelines and ground wire
removal information.
