Switching on (Figures 3a to 3h)
The apparatus is stored in its sealed casing. To use it, proceed as follows:
Remove the protection of the opening system. (Figure 3a)
Take off the lever of the closing system by breaking the sealing device – it should reach the atmospheric pressure in less than
10 seconds on average. (Figure 3b)
The casing cover falls off on its own. If, exceptionally, the cover does not fall, use the tab of the opening device to push the cover.
(Figure 3c)
Take the apparatus out of the casing and unfold the breathing bag fully. Place the strap on the bag behind the neck so that it rests
on the chest. (Figure 3d)
Insert the end of the ribbed hose into your mouth, between your lips and your teeth. (Figure 3e)
With one hand, hold the cartridge at the base of the ribbed hose and with the other hand pull the white handle to activate the
starter. (Figure 3f)
If for exceptional reasons the bag is not inflated, blow 3 times to activate the reaction of the KO
oxygen distribution process.
Never pull the ribbed hose.
Put on the nosepiece.
Put on the goggles, if supplied. (Figure 3g)
Adjust the neck strap, if necessary. (Figure 3h)
Breathe normally.
Leave the hazardous zone without panic. If that is not possible, stay in a position that allows normal breathing and wait for escape
or rescue.
If you experience any breathing difficulty while using the apparatus, adjust the neck strap so as to extend the breathing bag
sufficiently.
Conditions of use
The normal conditions of use are as follows:
Temperature 10°C < Temperature < 35°C,
Pressure: 800 mbar to 1200 mbar,
Relative humidity: 0 to 100%.
The apparatus can function from -5°C, but chemical reactions may be slower at lower temperatures.
The apparatus can function at temperatures up to 60°C, but the inhaled gas may be hotter at these temperatures.
The normal conditions of use require the following:
Wearing at the waist belt with the seal intact,
Wearing by an operator whose functions do not subject the apparatus to excess impacts or vibrations.
The apparatus may be worn for 8 hours per day and 250 days a year.
After use
Neutralisation of the used cartridge:
Used cartridges must be neutralised before disposal because they contain caustic KO
To neutralise the cartridge, the following operations are indispensable:
Immerse the cartridge in a large container of clean water,
Wait for the bubbling to stop,
Remove the cartridge with tongs,
Rinse it under running water,
Neutralise the water remaining in the container, which is now alkaline, using commercially-available acid till the pH of the water is
about 7.
HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS offers a destruction service for used cartridges.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Visual inspection
Check the presence and condition of the protection of the opening system and the seal, and if the needle of the vacuum gauge is
in the green zone.
If the needle is in the orange zone, the vacuum must necessarily be restored till it goes back to the green zone.
If the needle is in the red area, the apparatus must be withdrawn from service immediately and sent to maintenance.
STORAGE
The normal conditions of storage are as follows:
Temperature: from 10°C to 35°C,
Pressure: 800 mbar to 1200 mbar,
Relative humidity: 0 to 75%.
EN-3
in the cartridge and to start the
