Operation / Field of application

Electrically driven submersible pumps referred to in this
manual, have been designed for the following appli-
cations:
- draining tanks, rain water collectors, wells, ponds,
swimming pools and drain sinks;
- draining flooded basements, ships or yachts;
- for water aeration and circulation.
SEGO DRAIN, SUBDRAIN INOX, MULTISUB applica-
tions:
- Clear and clean waters.
SEGOVORT, SUBVORT, AUSVORT applications:
- Dirty waters containing fibre fragments (leaves, paper,
etc.) with maximum 5% of course material with no
stones.
Warning:
In principle no other liquids are accepted. The pump
is not adequate for using in biological treatment and
septic tanks. These pumps may not be used for flam-
mable, explosive or gas-containing aggressive liquids.
Maximum temperature of pumped fluid may not ex-
ceed 35 ºC in continuous operation.

Installation / Start up

A electric cable in accordance with the regulations and
an elbow connection is supplied with the pump. Ins-
tall the discharge pipe as required keeping it tight by
means of a clamp. Water flow rate depends among
other factors on the discharge pipe diameter. The grea-
ter the pipe diameter the greater the flow rate, a res-
triction leading to less water flow rate. Submerge the
pump into the liquid to be pumped (check the maxi-
mum head).
Warning:
The pump may not ever operate dry. The pump may
not ever operate dry. The pump must operate comple-
tely submerged into the liquid. Pump operation with
low water level is allowed for a period not exceeding 10
minutes. The pump starts by plugging the power cable
to the electric socket.
Never lift or handle the pump using the power cable, for
handling use the handle provided instead. If it should
be required for lowering the pump during submergen-
ce, a rope or similar fasten to the handle shall be used.
For muddy, sandy or stony subsoil, operate the pump
submerged hanging from a rope or chain, or else, place
it onto large enough bottom ballast.
Sand and other abrasive materials reduce the life of the
hydraulic passages and seals so that they shall be avoi-
ded. Take the pump out of the liquid if temperatures
drop below freezing point. The pump may not be expo-
sed to freezing. The pump must be emptied and taken
to a place sheltered from freezing temperatures. To
ease the starting of the pump, vent the air submerging
the pump with the discharge nozzle pointing up.
Operating instructions
Power supply: the pump must be connected to a power
supply, which includes a safety breaker and earth con-
nection in working order. The pump starts by plugging
the power cable to the electric socket..
Automatic float (if any)
The float automatically starts and stops the pump on
low and high liquid levels. Pump start and stop levels
may be regulated by extending or shortening the float
cable from the fastening point.
Float cable is fastened to the pump handle by means of
a clamped connection.
Always check that the float is free to move while the
pump is in operation.
Always rinse the pump with clean water and clean the
pump after using in very dirty applications.
All instructions given herewith must not be considered
as "domestic" as all repairs need specific knowledge
on the subject. On any malfunction, always contact the
Technical Assistance Service.

Service, maintenance

Prior to any maintenance work, take the plug out of
the electric socket and check the pump cannot start
unexpectedly.
But for the following cases, should it need repairing,
the pump must be sent to the after sales service.
Sand and other abrasive materials reduce pump life and
performance.
