Possible cause
unit is not positioned correctly on
the power base;
ON/OFF switch in wrong position;
power plug not plugged in
powder quantity too small;
espresso powder too old;
wrong type of espresso
too much powder used;
wrong type of espresso
insufficient or slant, scanted
screwing of the tank;
upper vessel and water tank not
firmly connected;
rubber sealing dirty, damaged or
missing
espresso powder too strongly
pressed into the filter funnel;
steam gets blocked (the
overpressure drains off via the
safety valve);
espresso powder too fine
Corrective
place the pot correctly on the power
base;
push ON/OFF switch down, the
switch lights up;
put the power plug firmly into the
electrical socket
fill the filter funnel completely with
fresh espresso powder;
possibly remove the filter insert for
3 or 2 cups from the funnel;
try again with a different type of
espresso beans
fill the filter funnel loosely with
espresso powder;
in case of a reduced amount of
water use the filter insert for 3 or
2 cups;
use a milder type of beans
pull the mains plug, switch
appliance off and let cool down,
Screw together both containers
more firmly, or separate upper
vessel from water tank and connect
properly; check the rubber sealing,
clean or replace it
pull the mains plug, switch
appliance off and let cool down;
then empty the filter funnel and
loosely refill with espresso powder;
do not press;
use a more coarser grained espresso
powder
