5. Outputs

5.1 Loudspeaker outputs

The loudspeakers for up to five speaker zones can be connected to the connector strip POWER OUTPUT
[59]. The output is meant for the connection of regular 100 V loudspeaker systems. The maximum output
capacity is 200 watts. During normal operation, the routing switches (ZONE 1 ... ZONE 5, [21] to [25])
are utilized for the individual switching of each zone. The stepping switches [16] to [20] are utilized to
control the output level of each zone separately.
Whenever prioritized messages, gongs, or alerts are activated, these controls are automatically deacti-
vated and the signal is reproduced via all speaker systems at its maximum output level - even when a
zone has been switched off before.
The 100 V speaker signal is also outputted through the "direct out" terminals. This signal is not influenced
by the setting of the volume controls or by the obligatory reception relay.

5.2 Remote control connector

For a description of the control outputs and the pin assignment of the REMOTE CONTROL [58] connector,
please refer to the following table:

6. Emergency power supply

In case the CPA 2000 is operated as an alert system, it is necessary to have it connected to a separate,
secondary power source. This power source has to be connected to the DC INPUT [56]. Whenever the
mains supply is interrupted, gapless switching to the secondary source (battery) is performed automat-
ically.
The battery supply is not affected by the POWER [26] switch on the front panel. In case it is intended that
the battery supply has to be switchable, an external breaker or relay which confines with the corresponding
current has to be installed.
To connect the battery to the DC INPUT [56] you have to use insulated AMP plate plugs 6.3 x 0.8 mm.
The appliance is protected against the confusion of the poles. Internally, the positive as well as the negative
conductor are guarded by two 12.5 A fuses which are located on the printed board assembly 86240 (relays
and output board assembly).
The battery connection cord has to be at least 2 x 2.5 mm
be any longer than 7 meters (the loss of power is below < 1 V).
Caution! The CPA 2000 can only be operated with batteries that are not grounded or with batteries that
are grounded at their negative pole. Operation with batteries that are grounded at their positive pole is
not permissible.
