ROLLER'S Smaragdol or ROLLER'S Rubinol for cooling and lubriCaration
should be used exclusively for sawing stainless steel and hard cast iron pipes.
It is recommended to use ROLLER'S Fox SR and one of the ROLLER'S universal
saw blades 561003 ... 561005. The guide holder is absolutely essential for
right-angled sawing (see 2.2.).
4. Maintenance
Notwithstanding the maintenance described below, it is recommended to send
in the power tool to an authorised ROLLER'S contract customer service work-
shop for inspection and periodic testing of electrical devices at least once a
year. In Germany, such periodic testing of electrical devices should be performed
in accordance with DIN VDE 0701-0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical
equipment according to the accident prevention rules DGUV, regulation 3
"Electrical Systems and Equipment". In addition, the respective national safety
provisions, rules and regulations valid for the appliCaration site must be consid-
ered and observed.
4.1. Maintenance

Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery before repair work!
The ROLLER'S reciproCarating saws are maintenance-free. The gear runs in
a life-long grease fi lling and therefore needs no lubriCaration. Keep the saw
blade holder clean. Remove chips from the housing of the saw blade holder.
5. Faults
5.1. Fault: ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw stops during sawing.
Cause:
● Feeding pressure too high.
● Blunt saw blade (5).
● Unsuitable saw blade (5).
● Overload protection (8) has activated (ROLLER'S Fox).
● LED of the machine status check (Fig. 1 (17)) lights red due to overload
(ROLLER'S cordless reciproCarating saw).
● Worn carbon brushes.
● Battery (13) fl at or defective (ROLLER'S cordless reciproCarating saw).
● LED of the machine status check (Fig. 1 (17)) fl ashes red due to exceeded
motor temperature (ROLLER'S cordless reciproCarating saw).
5.2. Fault: No right-angled cut when sawing pipes with guide holder (2).
Cause:
● Feeding pressure too high.
● Unsuitable saw blade (5).
● Blunt saw blade (5).
● Prism of the guide holder (2) soiled (chips!).
5.3. Fault: ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw does not start.
Cause:
● Overload protection has activated (ROLLER'S Fox).
● Mains lead defective.
● Battery (13) fl at or defective (ROLLER'S cordless reciproCarating saw).
● ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw defective.
● LED of the machine status check (Fig. 1 (17)) lights red
(ROLLER'S cordless reciproCarating saw).
5.4. Fault: Centring pin shears off, saw blade (5) cannot be clamped securely enough (ROLLER'S Fox and ROLLER'S Carat all models).
Cause:
● Clamping screw (9) worn.
● Allen key worn (see 2.5.).
Remove water/moisture from the housing of the saw blade holder after every
use. Lightly lubriCarate the saw blade holder and saw blade clamping lever
(14) with machine oil (ROLLER'S Shark VE). Change a defective locking screw
(9) (except ROLLER'S Shark VE). Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing, batteries)
only with the machine cleaner (Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp machine cleaner (Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp machine cleaner
cloth. Do not use household cleaners. These often contain chemicals which
can damage the plastic parts. Never use petrol, turpentine, thinner or similar
products for cleaning.
Make sure that liquids never get inside the ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw.
Never immerse the ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw in liquid.
4.2. Inspection/Servicing

The ROLLER'S reciproCarating saws with universal motor have carbon brushes.
These are subject to wear and must therefore by checked and changed by
qualifi ed specialists or an authorised ROLLER'S customer service workshop
from time to time. In the battery-operated drive units, the carbon brushes of
the motor are subject to wear. These cannot be replaced; the DC motor must
be replaced.
Remedy:
● Reduce feeding pressure.
● Change the saw blade.
● Choose a suitable saw blade (see 2.4. and Fig. 8).
● Wait a few seconds then press the button of the overload protection.
● Wait a few seconds until the LED lights green.
● Have the carbon brushes or DC motor changed by qualifi ed personnel or an
authorised ROLLER'S customer service workshop.
● Charge the battery with the Li-Ion rapid charger or change the battery.
● Wait until the LED lights green. Switch on the ROLLER'S cordless recipro-
Carating saw and let it run idle to reduce the cooling time.
Remedy:
● Reduce feeding pressure.
● Choose a suitable saw blade (see 2.4. and Fig. 8).
● Change the saw blade.
● Clean the prism.
Remedy:
● Wait a few seconds then press the button of the overload protection.
● Have the mains lead replaced by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised
ROLLER'S customer service workshop.
● Charge the battery with the Li-Ion rapid charger or change the battery.
● Have the ROLLER'S reciproCarating saw inspected/repaired by an authorised
ROLLER'S customer service workshop.
● Unsuitable battery inserted. Usable batteries, see 1.5.
Remedy:
● Change the clamping screw and/or centring pin.
● Change the Allen key.
