Commissioning

8.1 Filling and purging

The system must be filled and purged with due care. The pump
rotor space is automatically purged after a short operating
period.
UPE 70-25 PK / UPE 70-32 PK
If direct purging of the pump is required, the purging function (see
Cap. 1.3 on page III, item 5) can be started manually.
The duration of the purging function is 10 minutes (rapid flashing
green light). The process can be cancelled. After the 10 minutes
have elapsed, the pump returns to the max. constant speed
automatically. The desired regulation type must then be set. (the
purging function removes collected air from the rotor area of the
pump. The purging function does not purge the pipe system)

8.2 Setting the pump output

8.2.1

Regulation types

If the pump is operated in the constant regulation type,
p-v, the pump output must be set based on the calculated
operating point. The factory setting does not correspond the
pump output required for the system. It is determined based on
the characteristic curve diagram of the selected pump type (see
product information).
Setting the pump output via PWM 1 signal 
8.2.2
(UPE 70-25 PK or UPE 70-32 PK)
When the speed is adjusted using a PWM signal, the setpoint/
actual value comparison required for the regulation is carried out
by an external controller. A signal (PWM) is sent to the pumps
from the external heating controller as a manipulated variable.

Maintenance

Maintenance and repair work must only be carried out by
qualified specialists!
ATTENTION!
WARNING! Danger of electric shock
It must be ensured that there are no risks resulting from electrical energy.
Disconnect the system/pump(s) from the power source and secure it/
them against unauthorised restarting before carrying out any
maintenance or repair work.
ATTENTION!
WARNING! Danger of scalding
When the medium temperatures and system pressures are high, let the
pump cool down and depressurise the system.

ATTENTION!
WARNING! Danger of burns
Depending on the operating status of the pump or the system
(temperature of the medium to be pumped), the pump can become very
hot.
Touching the pump may cause burns!
The temperature at the heatsink can reach up to 70°C within the
permissible operating condition range.

If the signal cable is disconnected from the pump (PWM1
setting), e.g. due to a break in the cable, the pump accelerates to
the maximum speed.
If the signal is disconnected from the pump (PWM2 solar thermal
system setting), e.g. due to a break in the cable, the pump slows
down to the minimum speed (off).
