Damage to property/material
Mains voltage must correspond with the
voltage specifications on the power tool.
Personal protective equipment.
When using this power tool wear the fol-
lowing protective items:
Protective glasses, sturdy shoes, protec-
tive gloves.
Handling.
When sawing metal, lubricate the saw
blade (e.g. with a tool spray). In this way it
is cooled down and has a longer service
life.
The shoe plate is screwed on at the fac-
tory with the slit end pointing in the cut-
ting direction.
For a clean cutting edge when working
with wood, turn the shoe plate round and
use the anti-chipping protector (7f).
The shoe plate is made of stainless steel
and prevents contact corrosion on the
work-piece.
Setting the stroke (1) (ASte 638).
Select the stroke (1 – 6) required to suit
the working material by turning the
adjusting knob (1).
Select a low stroke for metals, plastics,
minerals and laminated plastic.
Select a high stroke for softwood, hard-
wood, plywood, fibre boards and insulat-
ing materials.
Switching ON/OFF (2).
First check that the cable and plug are
not damaged.
Switching the power tool ON:
Slide switch (2) forwards (I).
Switching the power tool OFF:
Press the switch (2) down
at the back (0).
When switching on, the motor starts
running gently after a short delay.
Inserting or changing the saw
blade (3).

Risk of injury
by switching the tool ON unintentionally.
Before changing the tool, pull out the mains
plug.
Unscrew the handle (3a).
Undo the screw (3b) using the hexa-
gon pin integrated in the handle (3a).
Change the saw blade or insert it in the
plunger slit.
Tighten the saw blade firmly using
screw (3b).
Screw on the handle (3a) again.
Setting the dust abstraction (6).
The dust extraction can be adjusted using
the rotatable hose sleeve.
Working without dust abstraction:
Position hose sleeve to "Blowing" (6c).
The chippings are blown to the front,
always keeping the view of the cutting
line clearly visible.
Working with dust abstraction:
Turn the hose sleeve to "Extrac-
tion" (6d). The chippings can be sucked
off from the extraction device by an
additional FEIN dust extractor.
