Description of the machine

The excavator model R553 is a machine based on an articulated type of frame, the type of
basement frame used on this machine gives to the excavator the possibility to operate on
rough terrains as well as on steep slopes by maintaining the operator's cab levelled. The
excavator is equipped with 4 wheels. The two rear wheels are equipped with hydraulic motors
that make the excavator a self-propelled machine. The two front wheels are free. The rear
wheels track can be modified and adapted to the available space, this possibility make it
possible to negotiate narrow tracks and, by spreading the tyres out, the machine can be made
stabile when moving on rough terrain.
The two front legs are equipped with a hydraulic extension that can be used in order to
increase the stability during excavation work and while descending steep slopes.
The control station, inside the operator's cab, has been studied in order to consider the
ergonomic needs of a person operating with this type of machine but also the specific
requirements due to the operativity of these machines. The cabin is equipped with a heating
system and can eventually be equipped with an air conditioner. The cabin has big wide glasses
that give a good visibility on the working area. The lateral window can be opened and the front
window can scroll inside the cabin. The air seat is adjustable and heated and it is studied to
absorb the vibrations due to the working process.
The engine of the machine is equipped with a particulate filter approved direct from Kubota for
IIIB STAGE.
The machine is technically very reliable reducing the electronic to the minimal: this permit to
avoid malfunctions.
All functions are controlled through Joysticks and foot pedals, the functions control is organised
in an intuitive set up that gives the operator the possibility to concentrate on the work on
hand.
The cab can be tilted. All components such as pumps and control valves as well as the engine
itself are in reach, making maintenance an easy task for the operator. The boom system, made
in high strength steel, has one inner section, connected to the rotating upper part and one
outer boom containing the hydraulically extensible extension.
