Emergency Starting Engine
1) Remove the top cowling.
2) Remove the cable 1 by pulling out it
from the starter if equipped.

3) Remove the starter/flywheel cover by
removing 3 bolts.
4) Prepare the engine for starting. See
"STARTING ENGINE" for procedures.
Be sure the engine is in Neutral and
that the lanyard lock plate is attached
to the engine stop lanyard switch.
The main switch must be on if the
main switch is equipped.

5) Pull out the choke knob when a cold
engine starts.
6) Insert the knotted end of the emer-
gency starter rope into the notch in
the flywheel rotor and wind the rope
several turns clockwise.
7) Pull the rope slowly until resistant is
felt.
8) Give a strong pull straight out to
crank and start the engine. Repeat if

necessary.
