Of the programmable details listed in Section "4. Brief
description", one parameter – the output signal – has to
be determined by PC programming as well as mechanical
setting on the transmitter:
... the output signal range by PC
... the type of output has to be set by DIP switch on the
instrument.
To set the DIP switches, open the casing (see Section 9
"Withdrawing and inserting the device") and set the DIP
switches as shown in Table 7.
The eight DIP switches are located at the outer right on
the conventional component side of the PCB.

After programming the unit, note the new data on
the nameplate. The data may also be noted on
one of the information cards supplied. These can
be kept in the clear plastic pouch on the side of
the casing (Fig. 1).

Fig. 7. Withdrawing the device.
There are two parts to the casing, the shell (9) and the co-
ver (10). They are held together by robust pegs and can be
simply assembled manually. The casing can be opened by
pressing the pegs (11) and (12) inwards one after another
using a screwdriver and applying pressure to lift the casing
cover on the connector side until the pegs release.
To assemble the casing, insert the guides into the casing
shell and press the two halves together using light pressure
until the pegs snap into place.

10. Mounting

The transmitter SIRAX V 644 is plugged onto a backplane
BP 902.
10.1 Plugging the module into the backplane
1. Clip the module base onto the top-hat rail.
2. If the backplane is mounted vertically, turn the quick release
screws on the module to a vertical position, respectively if
it is mounted horizontally, turn the screws to a horizontal
position.
3. Press the quick release screws inwards with the screw-
driver until there is an audible click.

When deciding where to install the transmitter
(measuring location), take care that the limits of
the operating temperature are kept:
– 25 and + 55 °C for standard instruments
– 20 and + 55 °C for instruments in Ex version!
Before inserting the SIRAX V 644 into the
backplane, ensure that, ...
... the backplane wiring is in strict accor-
dance with the wiring diagram of the
module
... the backplane is coded correctly accord-
ing to the section entitled "Mechanical
coding of the backplane". Read the
instructions for the backplane.
... the red coding insert has been removed
from the backplane for SIRAX plug-
in modules with an power supply of
24...60 V DC/AC and that the power
supply is correct for the module.
