MAINTENANCE AND CARE
Danger!
Prior to all servicing:
• Switch machine OFF.
• Unplug.
• Wait until machine has come to a complete stop.
Replace defective parts, especially of safety devices, only
with genuine replacement parts.
Parts not tested and approved by the equipment manufacturer
can cause unforeseen damage.
After all servicing:
• Check to see that all safety devices are operational.
• Make sure that no tools or other parts remain on or in the
machine.
Repair and maintenance work other than described in this
section should only be carried out by qualifi ed specialists.
8.1
Blade replacement
Warning:
Worn cutter knives are noticeable by
• reduced planing performance;
• increased risk of kickback;
• motor overloads.
• fi nishing quality
Danger!
Risk of personal injury by cuts from the cutter
knives!
Wear gloves when changing cutter knives.
To remove the cutter knives:
1. Switch off the machine.
2. Unplug power cable 11.
3. Remove cutter block guard 4.
4. Untighten and remove three screws holding the blade
und the cutter knife lockbar.
5. Remove the lockbar and the knife from the cutter
block.
6. Clean all surfaces of cutter block and cutter knife from
dust and resin.
Danger!
Do not use cleaning agents (e.g. to remove
resin residue) that could corrode the light metal
components. The stability of the light metal
components would be adversely affected.
To install the cutter knives:
Danger!
Use only suitable cutter knives conforming to EN
847-1 (see Available Accessories).
Unsuitable, incorrectly mounted, blunt or damaged cutter
knives can work loose or increase the risk of
kickback considerably respectively.
Always replace or reverse both cutter knives.
When regrinding, remove the same amount of material and
each time not more than 0,5 mm from
both cutter knives!
Install cutter knives using only genuine replacement parts.
1. Rest a perfectly-planed board on the exit surface (E)
and, using a pencil, make the initial marking as shown
in fi gure.
2. Manually turn the machine shaft one-third of a turn in
the direction shown by the arrow. The wood should shift
slightly.
3. Make the second marking with the pencil and then
measure. The adjustment is correct if the excess is
approx. 2-3mm (level Z). Run this check to the left and
right of each blade following each tightening of the 4
screws on the ends marked (A) and (B) . Correct planing
is impossible if these conditions are not followed.
4. Give a fi nal tightening to all the screws, but do not over
tighten.
8.2
Belt replacement:
The drive belt of the cutter block is a wearing part and should
be checked regularly.
If the belt is worn
out, it has to be replaced.
1. Remove the screws of the front cover 9 of the machine.
2. Remove the front cover 9.
3. Remove the old belt and insert a new one.
4. Close the front cover and tighten the screws.
8.3
Maintenance of the machine
Treat the threaded spindles for the height adjustment of the
thicknesser table with dry lubricant only.
8.4
Cleaning the machine
Free the surfaces of the tables, the feed-in and feedout
rollers regularly from resin. In order to prevent the motor from
overheating, regularly check that no dust has accumulated on
the ventilation apertures of the motor.
After a prolonged period of operation the machine should be
checked by an authorized costumer service
shop. The knife supports and knives must be freed from resin
regularly.
This can be done by soaking these parts for 24 hours in paraffi n,
white spirit or commercially available resin
remover (see To remove the cutter knives).
Tools made of aluminium may only be deresinifi ed with cleaning
agents which do not corrode this kind
of material.
Remove dust and wood chips on other parts of the machine
with the external dust extractor unit or a brush.
