Use as surface planer
With surface planing, an irregular surface is planed fl at:
• The workpiece rests on top of the planer table.
• The workpiece is cut on the underside.
Workpiece dimensions
• Length: use a push stick to feed workpieces shorter than
250 mm; for workpieces over 1500 mm use a second
person or table extension for support,
Models 640, PF204
• Width: 204 mm max.
• Thickness: 5 mm min.
Models 630, PF150
• Width: 152 mm max..
• Thickness: 5 mm min.
Cutting depth adjustment
With the planer cutting depth adjustment 6 the depth of cut
is set when the machine is used for surface planing.
• One graduation mark on the Planer scale 8 corresponds
to 1 mm chip removal.
• At each pass, a maximum of 2mm of material may be
removed using models 640 and PF204, and a maximum
of 3mm in models 630 and PF150.
Surface planing of workpieces
Note:
The dust chute has to be mounted below the planer
table (see 6.2: Dust chute installation).
1.
Assume proper operating position:
Position yourself to one side of the planer table.
2.
Set angle fence as required (see Angle fence
installation).
3.
Set cutting depth.
4.
Place the workpiece against the angle fence.
5.
Adjust cutter block cover 4:
• When planing narrow edges (jointing) or workpieces
more than 75 mm thick:
Set cutter block guard 4 from the side against the
workpiece.
• Planing the face of a plank or workpieces up to 75
mm thick:
Lower the cutter block guard 4 from top onto workpiece.
Adjust cutter block guard so that the under mentioned
distances are not exceeded in any position:
rear edge – workpiece max. 3 mm;
front edge – workpiece max. 2 mm.
6.
Start motor.
7.
Feed workpiece straight across the planer table 5.
Hold your fi ngers close together, guiding the workpiece
with the palm of your hands.
Exert downward pressure on the workpiece only in the
planer table area.
8.
Switch machine off if no further cutting is to be done
immediately afterwards.

Use as thicknesser
Thickness planing is used to reduce a workpiece with one
already surface planed surface to a desired thickness.
• The workpiece is run through the thicknesser.
• The workpiece is cut on the upper side.
Workpiece dimensions:
• Length: min. 200 mm; for workpieces over 1500 mm use
a second person or table extension for support.
Model 640
• Width: 204 mm max,
• Thickness: 6 mm. min.; 210 mm. max.
Model PF204
• Width: 204 mm max,
• Thickness: 6 mm. min.; 120 mm. max.
Models 630, PF150
• Width: 152 mm max,
• Thickness: 6 mm. min.; 120mm. max.
Thicknesser table height adjustment
With the Thicknesser table height adjustment the planing
thickness (= thickness of the workpiece after planing) is set
when the machine is used for thickness planing.
• Height adjustment is made with the crank for the height
adjustment of the thicknesser table 7.
• One full turn of the crank changes the height of the
thicknesser table 12 by 3 mm.
• Clockwise turning = raises the thicknesser table
• Counter-clockwise turning = lowers the thicknesser
table
• The set planing thickness is indicated on the thicknesser
scale 13.
• Per pass a maximum of 2 mm material can be
removed.
Thickness planing of workpieces
Note:
The dust chute has to be mounted above the planer
table (see 6.2: Dust chute installation).
1.
Assume proper operating position:
• To feed the workpiece into the machine, position yourself
offset to one side of the feed opening.
• To remove the workpiece from the machine, position
yourself offset to one side of the outfeed opening.
2.
To thickness plane with surfaces which are not parrallel,
use suitable feeding aids (make fi tting templates).
3.
Adjustment the thicknesser table height.
4.
Start motor.
5.
Feed workpiece slowly and straight into the thicknesser.
It will then be automatically fed through the thicknesser.
6.
Guide workpiece straight through the thicknesser.
7.
Switch machine off if no further cutting is to be done
immediately afterwards.
