4.2.3 Behaviour of the switchgear after mains voltage ON
– Mains voltage ON
– Menu 2.01 appears for 10 seconds and provides information on the
status of the software.
– Menu 2.02 then appears and allows the language to be selected.
By pressing
it is possible to end the language selection and
switch to the standard display. If no language is selected, the unit
automatically switches to the standard display after approx.
30 seconds.
– The unit begins to function according to the current system
pressure.
4.3 Products delivered
– Compact unit ready for connection
– Level sensor (measuring range 0 – 5 mWS with 20 m cable)
– Installation and Operating Instructions
– Assembly and fasteners

5. Assembly/Installation

5.1 Assembly
– The unit must be installed in a dry, frost-free room.
– The unit is fastened to the wall using 4 screws
soundproofing plugs (l bore 18 mm).
soundproofing plugs are not suitable for fastening

to lightweight walls! When attaching units to
lightweight walls, be sure to provide sufficient
soundproofing!
diagram).
– The unit should be installed as close to the cistern as possible.
The horizontal section of the suction pipe must also be as short as
possible.
– The suction pipe must always be installed in a rising position and
must have at least the nominal width of the pump (1") suction
connection.
– In general, fittings which reduce the suction capacity of the pump
should be avoided in the suction pipe. The maximum suction height
for Wilo MultiCargo pumps is approx. 7 m. The suction height is
made up of the geodatic height between pump and water level in
the cistern and the fall of the complete suction pipe.
– Buckles, bends and tapers in the piping on the suction side increase
the flow resistance and thereby the fall of the suction pipe.
– The piping on the suction side must be vacuum-sealed.
– Ensure that the suction pipe is not deformed by the suction of the
pump.
– The pump is to be protected by a foot valve on the suction pipe
with a backflow preventer and sieve (mesh width 1 mm) or filter
attachment, to prevent the suction pipe from draining and becoming
blocked (the ideal solution would be to use the Wilo-floating bleed
filter in conjunction with a flexible suction pipe).
– Compressed air piping and drinking water connection are to be
connected to the unit dead. The weight of the pipework must be
supported.
– All pipework connections are to be made with removable
connections (screw connections).
– The sensor cable for the cistern is to be installed in a protective pipe.
The cable must be loose. Buckles and bends are to be avoided.
– The level sensor is to be fastened at least 100 mm above the foot
valve, so that no air can be sucked in at the cistern's minimum level.
Here the fastening method depends on the type of cistern.
– All bleeding points are to be provided with a warning sign
"Not drinking water!". In accordance with DIN 1988, Pt 2, Para.
A written or symbolic depiction is possible. For safety reasons it is
also recommended that only shut-off devices which cannot be
operated by unauthorized persons are used.
– To guarantee the smooth operation of the unit the installation of a
Wilo Filter Collector or Wilo DuoFilter (accessory) in front of the
cistern is strongly recommended.

– When fitting the unit, gravity operation (level of the cistern above the
unit) is to be prohibited. If this is not possible due to local conditions,
it is possible to protect the unit with a backflow preventer available
as an option.
– The overflow of the drinking water backfeed tank is to be connected
such that a free outflow is possible. The minimum distance between
the underside of the overflow pipe and the pipe to the channel must
be at least 20 mm.
5.2 Electrical connection
Electrical connection should be made by a qualified
electrician. Current national regulations must be observed
(e.g. VDE regulations in Germany).
If necessary a fault current breaker (FI-switch) should be
provided.
Feed the mains cable and sensor cable
corresponding ducts in the base frame of the unit (lower
left-hand side of the frame).
– Check that the mains current and voltage comply with the data on
the rating plate.
– Mains fuse: 10A time-lag fuse.
– The level sensor is to be connected in accordance with fig. 4. It is
possible for the customer to extend the length of the level sensor
cable. However, the length of the sensor cable should not exceed
40 m. For such extensions, a cable suited to the local conditions is to
be used (possibly underground cable, cable cross-section at least.
The hose in the connecting cable of the level

sensor is used to measure the current air
pressure and must therefore be in contact with
the atmosphere at all times (must not, however,
be extended and connected to the switchgear)!
– Earth unit in accordance with regulations (PE instruction symbols).
6. Operation
We recommend having the unit put into operation by the Wilo
customer service.
Before commissioning the entire unit the pump
WARNING!
is to be filled and bled, otherwise there is a risk
of the mechanical seal being destroyed by dry
running!
In accordance with fig. 6, the filler/bleed screw at the top must be
undone to bleed the pump. Then the pump must be filled with water
through the filling opening using a funnel and then re-sealed.

Fig. 3 helps provide a better understanding of setting levels.
After the setting process the "Automatic" operating mode should then
be selected.
The floating valve in the drinking water backfeed tank must be set
such that the existing tank volume can be used to the full without
water escaping from the overflow. To this end the incline of the arm
and the position of the ball can be adjusted. The floating valve should
close approx. 3 to 5 cm below the overflow.
