The SM10 can be used, for instance, to connect your present (non X-10 compatible) alarm
system to Marmitek X-10 modules:
- A magnetic switch can be connected to the SM10, which can be used to turn lights on and
off when opening or closing doors and windows.
- T he SM10 can be connected to the switch contacts of a light sensor or motion sensor or an
(amplified) microphone or humidity sensor in order to activate X-10 modules.
- T he door switch of your garage door can be connected to the SM10 to automatically switch
on the lights when the door opens, etc......

After a signal has been given at the input, the Marmitek SM10 will send commands via the
mains to the Marmitek X-10 modules. This will switch lights and equipment on and off. This
takes place according to Marmitek X-10 protocol. Because the existing mains system is used,
no additional wiring will be necessary. Individual groups can be controlled by using rotary
switches (so-called HouseCode and UnitCode).
1. U se a small screwdriver to select the HouseCode (A-P) at the system address and the
UnitCode (1-16) at the module number to select the modules you would like to use in
combination with the Mode switch.
2. C onnect the switch or sensor to the screw terminals (18 V max. ).
3. P lug the SM10 in a wall outlet.
4. S et the selector switches to the desired positions:
Selector switch input a – B:
A. T he SM10 will be triggered by a voltage (6 – 18 VAC or DC) or an amplified audio signal
(such as a microphone).
B. T he SM10 will be triggered by a contact closure of a switch or a relay (such as the alarm
panel).
Selector switch Mode 1 – 2 – 3:
1. T he SM10 will turn ON all Lamp Modules set to its House Code and will also turn ON any other
Modules set to its Unit Code (ALL LIGHTS ON). All Lamp Modules are left in the ON state when
the trigger is de-activated but the module set to the same Unit Code will turn OFF.
2. T he SM10 will FLASH all lights connected to Lamp Modules (ALL LIGHTS ON / ALL UNITS OFF).
All Lamp Modules will be left in the ON state when the trigger is de-activated but Appliance
Modules set to the same House Code as the SM10 will turn OFF (ALL LIGHTS ON).
3. I f a trigger signal is presented to the terminal of the SM10; an "ON" command is send to
the pre-set address. When the trigger signal is switched off again; an "OFF" command will
be sent.
