Speaker box. Record the serial number in the space
provided below. Refer to these numbers whenever you
call upon your Sony dealer regarding this product.

Do not allow any solid object or liquid to
fall into the CKS-M10.
If any solid object or liquid falls into the CKS-M10, this
may cause a fire or an electric shock. If any solid object
or liquid falls into the CKS-M10, consult your nearest
Sony dealer.
Do not turn up the volume too high from the
beginning.
A loud sound may suddenly come out of the speakers,
and this may damage your ears. Be sure to turn up the
volume gradually.
Do not operate the CKS-M10 while driving,
etc.
Do not operate the CKS-M10 while driving a car or
motorcycle, etc. This may cause a traffic accident.
When using the CKS-M10 while walking, be careful of
the surrounding traffic situation and road surface
condition to prevent an accident.
Do not listen with a loud volume for a long
time.
If you listen with a loud volume for a long time, this may
cause damage to your hearing. Adjust the volume to a
level that you can hear when someone is calling you.
Precautions on handling
Do not place the CKS-M10 in the following
locations:
Anywhere extremely hot, such as under direct
sunlight or close to heaters
In a humid or dusty place
In a place subject to vibration
If you are using the PCM-M10 near a TV set or a
monitor, the colors on the screen of the TV or the
monitor may become uneven. In this case, move the
PCM-M10 away from a TV set or a monitor.
Do not leave objects that are susceptible to magnetic
fields, such as a TV, watches, personal credit cards,
near the speaker.
Do not use alcohol, benzine, or thinner to clean the
cabinet. This may damage the finish of the surface.
Do not touch the speakers directly with your fingers.
Do not stab the speaker with thin objects such as a
pin. If you do this, the output audio will be distorted,
or sound may not come out of the speakers.
Getting started
The CKS-M10 is a carrying case with built-in speakers
designed specially for the Sony PCM-M10 linear PCM
recorder. By storing the PCM-M10 in the carrying case
and carrying it, you can protect the case of the recorder
when taking it outside. You can record with the PCM-
M10 held in the carrying case with the case opened, or
play back recordings by connecting the PCM-M10 to the
built-in speakers. A carrying pouch is also supplied and
it can hold the remote control supplied with the PCM-
M10, and so on. Before you use these accessories, please
see the operating instructions of the PCM-M10.

Recording style
Follow the procedure below when you record with
PCM-M10 stored in the carrying case speaker.

Open the fastener. When the PCM-M10 is stored in
the CKS-M10, take the PCM-M10 out once.

Lift up the end of the stand plate, bend the stand
plate, and insert the end of the stand plate to the slot
into the bottom of the box.

Place the PCM-M10 on the stand plate.

Adjust the direction of the case so that the
microphone of the PCM-M10 is pointed to the sound
source, and start recording.
Notes
Monitor the currently recorded sound using sealed-off
type headphones (sold separately) during recording.
Be sure to disconnect the plug of the CKS-M10 from the
PCM-M10 before you start recording. If you start
recording with the plug connected to the PCM-M10, a
loud sound may come out of the speakers suddenly due
to howling, and your ears may be damaged.
Speaker style
Follow the procedure below when you play back
recordings on the PCM-M10.

Connect the plug to the headphone jack of the
PCM-M10.

Lift up the end of the speaker box by inserting your
finger into the hollow part of the upper part of the
speaker box.

Open the case and align your preferred place of the
case with the upper part of the speaker box and attach
the two of them with hook-and-loop fasteners (

Start playing back your recordings on the PCM-M10.
By standing the speaker box vertically in the speaker
style like normal speakers, the speakers are directed
to the listener, so you can enjoy better-quality sound.

If the connection between the case and the speaker box is
too weak to support the speaker box, use the hook-and-loop
fasteners (supplied) in pairs to strengthen the connection to
the speaker box in the order (

1 and

2) shown in the
illustration until the speaker box is adequately supported.
Troubleshooting
Should you have a problem with your speaker system,
check the following list and take the suggested measures.
If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
No sound comes from the speakers.
Turn the power of the PCM-M10 on.
Turn up the volume of the linear PCM-M10 as high as
possible as long as the sound is not distorted. For
details on volume adjustment, refer to the operating
instructions of the PCM-M10.
Connect the plug of the CKS-M10 to the PCM-M10
properly.
The sound from the speaker is too low.
Turn up the volume of the PCM-M10 as high as
possible as long as the sound is not distorted. For
details on volume adjustment, refer to the operating
instructions of the PCM-M10.
The sound from the speaker is distorted.
Turn down the volume of the PCM-M10 to the point
where the sound is no longer distorted. For details on
volume adjustment, refer to the operating
instructions of the PCM-M10.
If [Audio Out] of [Detail Menu] is set to [LINE OUT]
on the PCM-M10, the output audio will be distorted.
Be sure to set [Audio Out] to [Headphones].
Noise is heard from the speakers.
Connect the connection cord of the speaker box to
the headphone jack of the PCM-M10 properly.
Take the PCM-M10 away from the TV, if you are
using it near a TV set.

Préparation
Le CKS-M10 est un étui de transport muni de haut-
parleurs intégrés, conçu spécialement pour l' e nregistreur
linéaire PCM PCM-M10 de Sony. Si vous placez le PCM-
M10 dans l' é tui pour le transporter, le boîtier de l'appareil
est protégé des agressions extérieures. Vous pouvez
enregistrer avec le PCM-M10 lorsqu'il se trouve dans l' é tui
à condition que ce dernier soit ouvert, vous pouvez aussi
lire les enregistrements en connectant le PCM-M10 aux
haut-parleurs intégrés. Une petite sacoche est également
fournie pour contenir la télécommande du PCM-M10,
etc. Avant d'utiliser ces accessoires, reportez-vous au mode
d' e mploi du PCM-M10.

Style d'enregistrement
Suivez la procédure ci-dessous lorsque vous enregistrez
avec le PCM-M10 placé dans le haut-parleur de l' é tui.

Ouvrez l'attache. Si le PCM-M10 se trouve dans le
CKS-M10, retirez-le.

Relevez l' e xtrémité de la plaque support, pliez cette
dernière puis insérez son extrémité dans le logement
situé en bas du boîtier.

Placez le PCM-M10 sur la plaque support.

Réglez le sens de l' é tui de sorte que le microphone du
PCM-M10 soit orienté vers la source sonore, puis
lancez l' e nregistrement.
Remarques
Vous pouvez surveiller le son en cours d' e nregistrement
avec le casque adapté (vendu séparément).
Assurez-vous de débrancher la fiche du CKS-M10 du
PCM-M10 avant de lancer l' e nregistrement. Si vous
lancez l' e nregistrement alors que cette fiche est branchée
au PCM-M10, un son fort peut retentir en raison du
hululement, ce qui risquerait d'abîmer vos oreilles.
Style de haut-parleur
Suivez la procédure ci-dessous lorsque vous lisez des
enregistrements sur le PCM-M10.

Branchez la fiche casque dans le PCM-M10.

Relevez l' e xtrémité du boîtier des haut-parleurs en
insérant votre doigt dans la partie creuse du haut du
boîtier du haut-parleur.

Ouvrez l' é tui et alignez votre emplacement préféré de
l' é tui sur la partie supérieure du boîtier du haut-
parleur puis fixez-les ensemble avec du velcro (

Lancez la lecture de vos enregistrements sur le
PCM-M10.
En plaçant le boîtier du haut-parleur verticalement
comme pour des haut-parleurs normaux, les haut-
parleurs sont orientés vers les auditeurs, qui peuvent
ainsi profiter d'un son de meilleure qualité.

Si la connexion entre l' é tui et le boîtier du haut-parleur est
trop faible pour soutenir le boîtier du haut-parleur, utilisez
du velcro (fourni) pour renforcer la connexion avec le

boîtier du haut-parleur dans l' o rdre (

2), comme
indiqué sur l'illustration, jusqu'à ce que le boîtier du haut-
parleur soit correctement mis en place.
Dépannage
Si vous avez un problème avec votre système de haut-
parleur, consultez la liste suivante et prenez les mesures
conseillées. Si le problème persiste, consultez votre
revendeur Sony le plus proche.

Dans [Detail Menu] du PCM-M10, si [Audio Out] est
réglé sur [LINE OUT], la sortie audio est déformée.
Assurez-vous de régler [Audio Out] sur [Headphones].
Les haut-parleurs émettent un bruit parasite.
Branchez correctement le cordon de raccordement du
boîtier du haut-parleur à la fiche casque du PCM-M10.
Éloignez le PCM-M10 en cas de proximité avec un
téléviseur.
