Operating Instructions – Positioner

6 Intended Use

• The Positioner EP50 has been exclusively designed for keeping supply units (providing electric power, compressed
air, network connections, water, etc .) within easy reach and positioning them manually at the desired height . Note
that the maximum load weight and cable extension range specified on the rating plate or in section 10 "Technical
Characteristics" must not be exceeded.
• Any other usage above or beyond this shall be deemed improper use! The manufacturer/supplier assumes no liabi-
lity whatsoever for damage arising as a consequence . In such cases, the risk shall be borne solely by the user .
7 Safety Instructions – Accident Prevention
• No changes may be made on the Positioner EP50 without the express written permission of the manufacturer.
• The Positioner may only be operated and installed by trained personnel . These persons must previously have been
informed about the potential risks associated with performing these tasks .
• The safe use of this device is only ensured if you have fully read and understood the instructions, including the
safety notices, provided herein and if you observe them strictly during work .
• NEVER walk, work or stand under suspended loads!
• The Positioner may only be serviced by personnel specially trained or authorized by the manufacturer .
• Unhook loads only when the cable is fully retracted (coiled up)! Be aware that pulled-out cables can snap back
dangerously if you remove the working load in this state. So NEVER unhook loads from an extended cable!
• Dismantling the Positioner is extremely dangerous and strictly forbidden.
• The suspension structure to which the Positioner and the anti-crash safety device are fixed must provide adequate
stability!
• It is strictly forbidden to operate the Positioner without the safety components supplied with the product (anti-crash
safety device) in place .
• Be sure to check the cable of the Positioner for damage at regular intervals . Never operate the Positioner with a
defective cable!

8 Improper Use

Using the Positioner in any way other than that described under "Intended Use" shall be deemed non-intended and
therefore improper use . Never use the Positioner as a crane!

9 Residual Risks

Danger of serious or even fatal injury!
NEVER walk, work or stand under suspended loads!
Danger of injury!

• A ttach or unhook loads only when the cable is in fully retracted condition!
• I f suspended loads are pulled out at an angle exceeding the permitted angulation of 5°,
they may swing violently upon release, causing personal injuries as a result!
• B efore allowing personnel to work with the Positioner, the operator is required to
ATTENTION !
!
instruct them in the proper use of the product in accordance with the instructions provi-
ded herein .
• N ever operate the Positioner without the anti-crash safety device in place! Never
remove the safety device or modify it to put it out of operation!
• O nly specially authorized and trained persons are permitted to repair or disassemble
and reassemble the Positioner . Note that it is mandatory to use original spare parts
from Carl Stahl Kromer GmbH in case of repair, as only genuine spare parts meet the
required safety criteria .
