Transducer service

8.3.1

LF loudspeaker

If damaged, the 12" LF loudspeaker should be removed and repaired or replaced as described below.
Note: The LF and HF transducers are interdependent. Therefore, a recone kit is available if the user wants to repair
the LF loudspeaker only. Alternatively, reconing can be performed by L-ACOUSTICS
LF loudspeaker removing procedure (including HF driver)
1. Put the enclosure on a flat surface with grill facing the user.
2. Remove the grill: remove the 4 Torx
3. Remove the loudspeaker coaxial assembly: remove the 8 hex screws (5 mm) with split and flat washers,
lift up the loudspeaker (flat screwdriver).
4. Place the loudspeaker coaxial assembly in front of the enclosure with LF cone facing the flat surface.
5. Disconnect the four cables (1 red, 1 black, 1 blue, and 1 white) from the transducer terminal posts: push on
the spring-loaded terminal post, slide the cable out, and release the terminal post.
LF loudspeaker replacing procedure (including HF driver)
1. Place the LF loudspeaker in front of the enclosure with cone facing the flat surface.
2. Connect the four cables to the transducer terminal posts (push on the spring-loaded terminal post, slide the
cable in, and release the terminal post): red = LF+ (LF red terminal post), black = LF- (LF black
terminal post), blue = HF+ (HF red terminal post), white = HF- (HF black terminal post).
3. Install the loudspeaker assembly in the enclosure and screw in the 8 hex screws with split and flat washers:
into each hex screw insert a split washer and then a flat washer (following this sequence) and screw in the
assembly to one of the eight locations (hex 5 mm, 5 N.m/45 in.lb
4. Install the grill (logo oriented towards the vents) and screw in the 4 Torx
8.3.2

HF diaphragm

If damaged, the HF diaphragm should be removed and replaced as described below.
Note: The LF and HF transducers are not separable. Therefore, replacing the full HF driver is only possible by
replacing the complete LF/HF block (as described in section 8.3.1).
HF diaphragm removing procedure
1. Put the enclosure on a flat surface with grill facing the user.
2. Remove the grill: remove the 4 Torx
3. Remove the loudspeaker coaxial assembly: remove the 8 hex screws (5 mm) with split and flat washers,
lift up the loudspeaker (flat screwdriver).
4. Place the loudspeaker coaxial assembly with LF cone facing the flat surface.
5. Disconnect both cables from the HF driver terminal posts (blue and white cables): push on the spring-loaded
terminal post, slide the cable out, and release the terminal post.
6. Unscrew the 3 hex screws (4 mm) from the back cover, pull the back cover out.
7. Pull the diaphragm out from the magnet.
