BERG Large Ride-ons
2.2.5.3 Different types of hubs
Brake freewheel reverse (BFR)
The brake freewheel works like a back-pedalling brake and has a neutral. The brake freehweel can be put
in reverse. The tension of the chain has to be checked every six months.
Brake freewheel reverse 3-speed (BFR-3)
The gears should be tuned at least every six months. This is be done in the following way (see
illustrations below). Remove the back hood to see little black box at the end of the cable (step 1). With
this box the cable length can be adjusted. With the handle turned to the second gear (step 2), the chain
has the correct tension if the middle can be pushed 2mm downwards. Check if the outside cable is far
enough into the bushes at both ends and whether there are no kinks in the cable. In order to tighten the
cable (for example when first gear is not working) the end of the chain is pushed further into the box.
In order to loosen the cable (for example if the third gear is not working) the lip at the end of the box is
pushed in to release the chain. Consult your dealer when facing problems or in need of advice.
